Having a LED flash is better than not having one. It is more convenient. You can just take casual shots with your friends. I don't think you will carry a bulky camera everywhere you go, right? A simple camera with an LED flash is enough for a dinner with your friends.

    I can imagine that if SGS didn't have a camera in the first place, extremist like you will still say "I don't need it, I will bring my camera around. Cameras in phones are pointless."

      galaxy s is great device with good os but i have no reason to switch

              TC, 08 Sep 2010I think that, if you can, you should wait until Galaxy S ha... moreWell if you take pictures in the dark why did you buy the galaxy and even the desire led flashes are pointless and htcs don't take good pictures why didn't you get a phone with a xenon flash and a higher MP count. Or like me use a real camera. I don't need a flash and my galaxy doesn't need froyo it is amazing already.

                I think that, if you can, you should wait until Galaxy S has official Froyo update, because I think, hope, most of Galaxy S problems will be fixed with Froyo. If you want to install a lot of, (mostly pointless), apps from Android market then the small built in memory on Desire will be a problem because even with Froyo most apps still can not be installed on the external sd-card. I am still keeping my Galaxy S hoping Froyo will "fix it", but I will probably use Desire as my everyday-phone even if Froyo really fix all problems on Galaxy S.
                Froyo will not give it a led-flash so taking pictutes in dark the dark will not be possible even after Froyo-update.

How about the b... moreDesire had problems with short batterylife, but after the Froyo update this is not a big problem anymore. I have a new Desire with the new slcd-screen ans I have no problems with batterylife, I charge it only 1 time every night, but I am used to Nokias useless batterylife and Desrire has much longer batterylife than any nokia-phone.
                  Galaxy S is almost weightless so I can not feel it at all when I have it in my pocket, but it is very plastic and I am always afraid that I will damage it if I "bump" in to a table or... Desire is has the same weight as IPhone4 and Nokia N8, and it is no problem to have in my pocket, and I am nit afraid that I could accidently damage it.

Samsung has not finished updating the software to Froyo so they can not send any update to the networks, so the problem is the sliw company Samsung. If I have to use a rubber case to hold Galaxy S, then it will not be better than IPhone4.

                      Thanks a lot for your response! How about the battery backup between the 2? I read in a few places that the Desire's lasts an entire day with difficulty. Could you let me know if that's true? How's the Galaxy's backup?

                      Also, is the differences in their weight felt a lot when kept in the pocket?

                          2nd in the message area there is option for handwriting recognition
                          3rd calendar although needs internet connection to get activated its like anythin else,email syncing and setup r just easy as it should be.

A... moreLol what a tit first you say iPhone is so good then you say the fact the galaxy looks like it is bad surely if it looks like it then you like it, it does more has better hardware and better features and all you can complain about it led flash and notification light. You are truely a tit and more than likely Samsung galaxy trash who changed his name.

                                    TC, 07 Sep 2010Galaxy S has a lot of problems while Desire has ni problems... moreYet again total rubbish someone else who doesn't know how to use their phone, there was an updated firmware through kies last week the GPS is now great it is very nice to hold though a bit slippery but you would use a nice rubber case anyway HTC don't update their phones quicker android send out the update its usually the networks that hold things up. Seriously get this phone and spend a while customizing it to your taste I have and now it is truly amazing.
                                    Also kies is poo but if you copy all files on internal SD card and remove external SD then unmount and format internal SD it will connect do what you got to do then just replace the files to the internal SD and put the external card back in it is hassle but kids wasn't made for galaxy just for wave so android plays it up. This doesn't mean the phone is not great though.

                                        Are you kidding? "..the screen is supercalifragilistic compared to the competition.." yeah, right! Buy yourself a TV set, buddy! The design is just a sad copy of an I Phone with misplaced buttons. But that's Samsung... good old Samsung that go for a copy instead of innovating.
