people i have a question ... do you prefer apples or big bad cheeseburgers ?
it's like comparing an iphone to a galaxy s .. but iFanboys just don't wanna admit it , Why ?
simply because the iPhone has 160,000 app in appstore while android have 50,000
now let me ask a question , who in the world would store 50,000 app in his phone ?!

You people compare apples with pears :-) Android is Android and Symbian is Symbian ! At the moment Symbian outsell Android by 3:1 if not more. Actually Symbian is for the cellphones what windows is for pc's. And the N8 is Symbians BOSS ! I love Symbian too and honestly, I don't care which phone is better if is not Symbian ! ! ! The people are voting with their wallets and not their mouths like you do :-)

nokia n8 is not in the same league as the galaxys,desire or x10..
the x10 looks really nice aesthetically, but specs wise, it falls short behind the galaxy s..
the desire is good too, but it seems to bland and hmmm uninteresting..

the display ist one of the greatest, the cam is the best of all in the list and the design is the best. a shame what sony is doing to it.
i can't wait to have my galaxy and hope that samsung isn't sony.

I still find it really hard to believe that people continue with the childish "brand loyalty" argument...
"Nokia rules" or "SE rules" or whatever...
Honestly - would you get a phone from a company that didn't provide the features you wanted - just because of the brand? Of course you wouldn't...
Everyone goes for the phone that best suits them, phones are always hotly debated because people use them more than anything else, for a multitude of reasons...
If you want a cameraphone - go for N8
If you want a smartphone - go for Desire / Galaxy / X10
I honestly don't think you can compare N8 to the newer smartphones - it's obviously geared towards camera / video - so it's more in the league of Satio / Vivaz / Leo / Pixon than the more technical handsets...
And again, people aren't stupid, they go for the features they want...
Want a large screen but not bothered too much about photos? Go for Galaxy...
Want a dependable good all-rounder, but again not bothered about photos? Go for Desire...
Want Android with a good camera, but outdated OS? Xperia 10
It's all about what you want, not what company manufactures it...
People who like all of the companies (I count myself amongst those) can see the benefits of all these phones, and their weaknesses...
And then make an informed choice and buy the one that suits them...
Personally, it's been a struggle to pick, I've never been interested in photos, etc. so N8 was out of the window (as Android is a far better OS than Symbian, having used both and Windows and customised ones, I think it even beats iphone's OS), and because X10 is only Android 1.6, no true multitouch and from many reports a very laggy underdeveloped UI, that's out of the window... So only Galaxy and Desire remain...
And because I want a super screen (because, after all, that's what you're going to be looking at 99% of the time)...
The choice was simple - Galaxy!

Whatever you personally choose though, ENJOY IT!!! :)

the galaxy S will support flash lite 3.1 out of the box, or you could download skyfire or flash lite 4 if you want flash.. flash itself is a battery hog btw..
and based on your statement about us having to wait for the BEAM or whatever it is as it will be a better device, if we do follow that then we might end up not buying any phone at all as newer and better phones are inevitable.. we wait for the beam , then wait for another better one, then wait for another one, and the waiting goes on and on.. LOL
if you like the phone now for what it is, just get it then simply upgrade to the better one if it's not an issue..

I like the camera and projector of the Beam, but the screen is too small for me (3.7" vs 4.0" for Galaxy S) and ugly design.
