Vamshi, 02 Jun 2010Friends,
My suggestion for people planning to buy a new mo... moreTotally agree.
Maybe the N8 shouldn't be on the list because it's just a camphone, not a smartphone.

Friends,
My suggestion for people planning to buy a new mobile,
Top 5 Mobiles in market:-
Rank-1: Samsung I9000 Galaxy S
Rank-2: HTC Desire
Rank-3: HTC Google Nexus One
Rank-4: Nokia N8 & IPhone 4G (Both yet to release in a month or so)
Rank-5: Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10
Guess this is very true as of my experience.

@Engineer man
the galaxy S will support flash lite 3.1 out of the box, or you could download skyfire or flash lite 4 if you want flash.. flash itself is a battery hog btw..
and based on your statement about us having to wait for the BEAM or whatever it is as it will be a better device, if we do follow that then we might end up not buying any phone at all as newer and better phones are inevitable.. we wait for the beam , then wait for another better one, then wait for another one, and the waiting goes on and on.. LOL
if you like the phone now for what it is, just get it then simply upgrade to the better one if it's not an issue..

Engineer Man, 02 Jun 2010The Galaxy is a nearly perfect phone & it sets the stan... moreFlash support will become available with 2.2 (Froyo) and Samsung has confirmed that Galaxy S will get it:

I like the camera and projector of the Beam, but the screen is too small for me (3.7" vs 4.0" for Galaxy S) and ugly design.

Engineer Man, 02 Jun 2010The Galaxy is a nearly perfect phone & it sets the stan... moreAll of your presumptions are based on that this is a snapdragon.
It's a 1Ghz ARM cortex A8.
* lower power consumption

* better performance than the snapdragon

The Galaxy is a nearly perfect phone & it sets the standard alright for the rest of the mobile market competition. But hte lack of having Xenon LED flash is a no no. No flash support. Yet a full web browser, 75% of Internet websites use flash. No free GPS, basic at that, + fees for voice guidance & navigation. no no.
Fingerprint magnet alright, but although the design is chic, slim & elegant, it's really very simple boring design. The plastic is cheap. Plus all the other minuses. The feeble loud speaker is feeble & not so loud for outdoor noisy ringing environments.
If you are looking for the perfect phone with none of the exceptions of above phone. Then if I were YOU I would wait for samsungs newer phone BEAM or newer still. Dual Core CPU's, 1.2, 1.3, 1.5GHz. Don't expect them to be faster but they could be power hungry just like the snapdragon.
Please don't compare two completeley different Snapdragon Vs ARM architectures. As Mhz has nothing to do with the overall CPU hardware technicalities & design functionalties or performance. It has been proven that a CPU of superior design with less overheads, slower clock cycles can actually outshine higher frequency.
Consider these important factors for a CPU to excel. Architecture,transistors, Instruction set extensions, arithmetic, integers, registers, pipeline burst, cache, BUS (& speed), Memory controller, memory & speed & type & quality, quantity, OS in memory manangement, Kernel CPU management.
The beam has all the feature exceptions that make the Galaxy I9000 S GT a leader plus a whole new set of other technologies & features which the S doesn't support off the shelf, the BEAM will support off the shelf 8MP cam with flash, a brilliant ARM CPU, Flash lite 4.0 (Flash 10.1 support). A slightly smaller screen with increased battery capacity, a CPU which leaves a smaller power fingerprint than snaprdragon, 65dB stereo speakers. A excellent GPU for Direct hardware acceleration.
ARMS have the lowest power requirements, the ability to handle any intesive processing algorithms for any application task well. So I'm going to wait around a little bit.
My only grip & hope is that samsung start to focus & give continued customer support they require for firmware updates. Something of a shady past in this area. If the hardware build quality of newer handsets has improved also. Then samsung stand a good chance of attractive previous customers & thats's important for them & for us.
