Mike, 24 May 2010i really don't get it. this phone has everything you could... moreI think they wanted to make it affordable as well. It's still pretty expensive, but I think a flash would have made it more so. I think its the only 'feature' i wouldnt miss in my current phone, and I think their market research must've said the same.

Phone cameras are generally rubbish with a flash, anyway.

Also, I bet that they will release another version of this phone with added features including keyboard and flash, but it will be $150 more. Then everyone who is complaining about the lack of these features will have no excuse! Samsung will get all the market, rename themselves Skynet and take over the world!

                  Check review again dudes .

GSMArena : 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird CPU; 512 MB of RAM

Update 24 May: Initially our phone reported to have 256 MB of RAM memory, but after seeing so many sources claiming that the Galaxy S has 512 MB we contacted Samsung to clear this out for us. It turned out the Galaxy S will hit the shelves with good 512 MB of RAM on board.

                  Samsung is the best .

                  Cheers.

Jean, 23 May 2010Please stop you're really annoying and uninformed. No gr... morePowerVR SGX540 is only capable to render 28 M triangles per second not 90M. See this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PowerVR?wasRedirected=true
here clearly written "SGX540 is 2x faster than SGX530" while SGX530 is able to render 14M triangles per second. So N8 has better Gpu ( Broadcom bcm2727), which can render 32M triangle/sec..
Gpu performance is also based upon OS. And we all know Symbian^3 better use gpu performance than Android.. So gpu wise N8 > Galaxy S.

seems like Galaxy GPU is actually "SLOWer" then Nokia's N8. hmmm

Most comments like to mention about phone with camera but without flash is a big issue. Go and get yourself a mini camera if you need to take photos often especially so if you are night party goer.

                              bad camera
knowing Samsung's update history the phone will probably get upgrade in 2012..
sorry i pass... i'de rather wait to see if X10 will get upgraded to froyo (its still the best money to value in the Andriod family)

Is there going to be benchmark test of CPU&GPU on this phone against HTC Desire and Xperia as GSM Arena mentioned before?

The issues for me with this phone:

1- Size is too big. They should really have 3.2 or 3.5 inch version that fits comfortably in trousers pocket and still gives good smartphone experience.

2- The custum UI is a big no for me. Android is updated frequently with significant improvements and waiting for an updated release is a torture as it will be with V2.2. For what it adds, custom UI are a big problem for Android platform.

If the monafacturers have anything to add, they should add them as optional and applications and let people get the new Android version instantly not worry about app compatibility with their phones.

Otherwise this is a great phone.

                                      No graphic accelerator?

This phone packs the Hummingbird, the graphical accelerator is the PowerVR SGX540

IT'S 3x TIMES FASTER THAN ANY GPU OUT THERE IN THE SMARTPHONE INDUSTRY.
