I've owned this phone since the beginning of August; bought it in Abu Dhabi. It's running Android 2.2.1. This is my second Android phone after the LG P503/Optimus One.
And everyday I want to throw it at the wall.
Why? I have three main complaints:
-GPS doesn't work;
-Wifi works like crap (takes forever to connect--up to one minute--and then spontaneously disconnects or just stops working
-Wireless data sometimes just stops working, sometimes for hours
-Android Market works only when it feels like it--lots of "Connection Error"s and never-ending "Loading"s (and this is the new Market that was updated a month ago)
I know that the GPS problem is Samsung's fault--it's a very common issue with the Galaxy series--but I don't know who to blame for my other problems, Samsung or Android/Google. I really want to love my phone, because, other than the problems I've listed, it's a great phone: good screen, snappy, and it looks really nice, too. But the problems I have are so MAJOR, so integral to using the phone, that they overshadow everything else. And NO, I don't want to have to install this app or that app to help my phone work--my phone should work without any help!

Avoid from installing crap apps on android cause it can make your phone freeze and switch off itself...Be careful..!

Does anyone here know how to upgrade froyo 2.2 to 2.3 ?this phone nice or not ?

samfirmware has announced that we are going to get gingerbread 2.3.5 through kies update at the end of this month...So galaxy sl users dont worry it is an officialy announced news

There is official tweet from @SamsungKies that Gingerbread for I9003 Galaxy SL would be available during early November.
I have been using this phone since 8 month,
Initially there was gps locking issue but after recent fw upgrade(FROYO not GB) it locks instantaneously.
I use 3g with Juice defender app and battery easily lasts for a day. Full charging takes around 3 hours
TV out not available for Indian version.
It cannot play 720p flash videos on browser, it can't play 720p mp4 video recorded using my digi cam and some other devices either.
Plays divx hd, and also normal xvid movies, series its pretty smoothly without any jitters and also screen is pretty good.
Best of all, it plays .flac format songs out of the box(it managed to play 380mb single flac file with 1 hour playback time without any lag ) also music quality is very good (I use sennheiser headphones for both phone and iPod, even though the quality is not as good as ipod it is still pretty good for a phone) on the other hand ipod cannot play flac but Galaxy SL plays it with amazing quality...
Camera even though doesnt have flash produces above average quality.
Finally software is buggy.. Freezes, reboots etc.(This is same with every smartphone in market)

I bought this phone bout four days ago and it's just amazing. My brother who's using his xperia mini pro is now envious.
Froyo at first is good but when i downloaded a number of application from the market, it started to lag. i got a microSD and transferred all tranferable apps there, making the phone run smoother.
Android market is the best. no worries and it's really worthay buying such android phone especially a samsung unit. Samsung has the best user interface to date, displayed by awesome screen techs.
Only the update makes the whole story bad, so just think that it's giving you much excitement.
