Jason, 28 Aug 2008All phones (electrical equipments) will have some problems ... morelol, I really don't know where you got your idea that the iphone has excessive problems. You obviously do not own one.
There are people complaining about omnia's performance, and to think that it is not even selling half as much as the iphone does. The iphone is selling millions, and if what you're saying is true that the iphone hsa excessive problems, believe me, ot would've been recalled.

Went to the Vodafone store today to try this phone before getting it. The interface was nice and smooth with no lag. The camera loaded quickly, focused well and snapped quickly. I use the HTC TYTNII for work and the OS has issues if you keep it running for a week or two, but that's Microsoft. I was pleasantly surprised that the keypad worked well with my fingers. The screen isn't that much bigger than the Tytn, but just big enough. The screen rotation works well, though I haven't had a phone with it before and not exactly loving it.
Hope that helps people as I know there have been some really negative comments about this phone. I think some people are maybe not used to the poor Microsoft OS!
I will post a more in-depth review once I have the phone, used it a couple of weeks.

What's video performance like on this phone? does it have a graphics acceleration chip like the HTC Diamond or is the hardware good enough to compensate for that? also what's the phone like at handling games? can anything be done or is there software out there to enhance, not change, the touchWiz software? like maybe make the buttons react different when pressed or have a cool animation around each button or something like that and is there any way of adding flick scroll on the WM Part of the phone? and in comparrison to the Xperia, which is better?

I am totally fed up with the inability of O2 UK to treat their customers with a bit of decency and simply say if this phone will be available with them or not, if so when.
But it gets worse...I went to Vodafone today and to use the GPS function on the Omnia you have to use their find and go service which is an additional £5 per month. Sure you can download a third party application, but no one at Voda will give a commitment that it will work nor that Voda have not blocked such applications. Talk about exploitation. Not convinced of T-Mobiles coverage or that Orange works in my rural region. So I will wait for O2, and if they don't bring the phone out, not much I can do. Pretty alienating all this. Technology should be enjoyable as well as functional. Seems to me rip off Britain is doing well even in a recession!

Just had my Omnia delivered. Looks a lovely phone. I am following charging instructions. Anyone out there that has this phone can you advise me that when phone switched off, should I see a battery icon charging on the screen as I cant? Should I switch it on before the initial 16 hours so I can see if its charging. On off switch is illuminated so i can see power going into phone but just cannot tell if charging. Help would be appreciated.

Anonymous, 28 Aug 2008Wow, there are people having problems with the iphone? Can... moreAll phones (electrical equipments) will have some problems now and then. BUT some do have
excessive problems! iPhone is a good example, and the Xbox too!
I think this is one of the reasons why Samsung waits/waited so long with the introduction of the Omnia. They want to avoid such big problems as the iPhone has now. They have selected some test markets where the device was introduced. With the experiences in these test markets Samsung optimised the Omnia and now it is ready to be introduced in other countries as well. And yes, now and then there will be an Omnia which does not work as it should be, but hopefully not as many as the iPhone.
