Jason, 25 Aug 2008Dear Nella,
I don't have real experiences with a blackbe... moreHi Jason
Thanks for your help.. so far on the blackberry page none of the bb fans have been fighting their phones corner.
yes you do have to pay to use the blackberry but on orange until the end of the month it is only 2.50 rather than 10 so i guess thats a bonus... and yet another reason why i want to change quickly if i do got for that
its so tough as they are both brilliant phones but have different advantages no idea how i am going to decide

uk guy , 25 Aug 2008ok tell me more
im looking at £45 per month tarrifUnless you are a heavy user you don't need to pay £45. Voda UK will "give" you the phone free if you take a £35 tariff which will include unlimited internet and around 600 minutes. Problem is if you want to use the GPS function they then want another £5 WHY?
If you use third party software there seems no basis for the extra £5. If you use a-GPS then locating the satellite over the web should come out of your unlimited internet access bundle. So the £5 is a rip off. I think Voda block any third party application. I am pushing them for clarification but they are being very evasive. Perhaps if you are looking for a £45 tariff anyway it won't bother you, but on principle it bothers me!

nella, 25 Aug 2008Hey all
seems to have been a rather heated debate between ... moreDear Nella,
I don't have real experiences with a blackberry, but my choice would be the Samsung for sure! I find the Omnia a much more modern phone. It is also smaller and lighter. The battery also lasts longer. Keys are on both small, but in land scape they will get a big bigger on the Omnia. If I understand it correctly you must have a special contract for blackberries. Personally I don't like that at all. Who are they to decide that for me?!!
So, I would choose the Omnia!

Hey all
seems to have been a rather heated debate between whether the Omnia or the Iphone is better.
I have neither but presonally i would never go for an Iphone, nothing to do with the phone its self but personally i dont like hat fact that apple have tied it to one network and have made it so that the phone breaks if you unlock it so that your warranty is invalid.
As a consumer i am in favour of health competition and apple have only done this so that their product can remain at a high price and will not affect the prices of their normal Ipods.
My question is about the blackberry bold though. Im due for an upgrade on Orange tomorrow morning and cant decide between the two. i went to phone sfor you and played with both but that only made matters more confusing. so please please let me hear your arguments as to either.
the functionality that i need is included in both Quadband and wifi.... both have sat nav which is handy and anything more is a bonus.
really want to get rid of my current phone asap as its the orginal N95.... yes i know laugh but nobody told me about the systemic software faults when i bought it!!

UK GUY, 25 Aug 2008on 02 in uk this phone will need additional bolt ons to mak... moreI agree rip off Britain but O2 seems better than Voda. The bolt on can be inclusive on £35 O2 tariff, but accessing GPS on Voda could cost £5 more on top of that. It is only if you go on a cheaper O2 contract that the bolt on is £7.50 extra

Anonymous, 25 Aug 2008Anybody know anything about the way GPS works on a mobile??... moreI don't think vodafone could charge you/give u restrictions on the use of GPS. If you want to get a fast fix, you can use a-gps, meaning that your phone will use the internet to connect to the sattelites blablabla. That will cost you money, but it is only temporarily and not mandatory. The use of the GPS receiver is for free, but you do need navigation software. And it might cost u money to update your maps in the program every once in a while, though that depends on the creator. Hope this helps:)

Anybody know anything about the way GPS works on a mobile?? Presumably you are accessing the internet to use it, so it will be chargeable, but on what basis? Must surely be by data amount, so on a hours car journey for example, how much would that cost? If you are paying for data download, why are UK Voda charging and addition £5 per month to access the same, if you are paying for it once via the web? I am really confused over this issue, so any help would be appreciated. I think £35 monthly is chunky money for a phone.

uk guy, 25 Aug 2008why is omnia better IYO? are you going on features alone... moreI don`t think that we need to discuss about features of I-phone and Omnia because you can´t compare them. Thru features, Omnia is another dimension in compare to I-phone. Like I said, I have them both, so I can compare them in operating. But, as I said to you before, my Omnia, till now (I have it for 1 month), don´t have any problems in operating. I don´t know, maybe I´m just lucky owner of good Omnia, but from that perspective and when you list specifications of both phones, again I´m for Omnia. That´s just my opinion, but like I said, maybe I´m just lucky to have great Omnia.
