Anonymous, 05 Aug 2008i have garmin installed but it tells me that i have to turn... moreMore details please. Garmin XT or else? Licensed or no? If not licensed you have to personalize the software to your device before it can see the internal GPS. Otherwise use bluetooth GPS external

to andy: no i tried it and it doesn't seem to be able to catch any sattelites. (in canada) you can get ur locations via google maps as well as directions as long as u have a network hooked up...either wifi or through ur carrier (which can be pricey) but no GPS as of now. i will speak to my carrier to see if this can be fixed.

I found the link to where i saw the claim.
Hi, i can see taht many of the members here have had quite an experience with the Omnia...
I know i should be going through the previous discussions to seek my answer... but there's over 300+ pages so i was hoping someone would be able to answer me question regarding the GPS of the Omnia.
According to
http://www.timtechs.com/samsung_sgh_i900_omnia_unlocked_prd365.html
The GPS will not work in North America, is this true? cause i am planning to buy the Omnia in the morning and bring it back to Canada Next week.If anyone knows or has tried to use the GPS in north america, a reply asap would be very appreciated. thankyou

A few questions guys
Being an owner of an Omnia for the past week I have gathered the following hickups:
a) some apps: world clock card reader are not present on the 16gb version I have
b) annoyinngly the second Home interface screen the gsmarena guys have is not present either. You get the widget screen, the shortcut screen and the main menu screen. And even on the widget screen the widget about birthdays is not there.
c)another quirk you should be aware of is the infamous call waiting issue. You can see your second line caller if you have call waiting enabled on your network and hear the beep and so does the caller calling get a notification from the network. However when you are the caller and the person you are calling is on their second line you get no such notification. To my knowledge this is an issue with Win Mobile.
d)last but not least the samsung phonebook hangs with the windows mobile busy sign is rendered useless!
If anyone can help i ll appreciate it!!!!

Meesh, 04 Aug 2008the good news that phones4u will be doing the handset somet... moreSeems a fair way forward. I am an existing O2 customer, but not happy with their apathy over the Omnia. Have you used P4U before are they any good, or typical of most Hight Streets shops in the UK with no notion of customer service?

Dear all,
In The Netherlands the phone will come out in week 34 (18 August). Prices varies between € 570 and € 511.
I assume they are mention the 8 GB version for € 511. Most of suppliers think they are cleaver not to mention whether it involves a 8 or 16 GB version. Some of them a writhing "standard 8 GB / 16 GB" . . . and then their price.
There will be a black and a WHITE version available.
Cheers!

Anonymous, 04 Aug 2008Whats good news on phones4u sitethe good news that phones4u will be doing the handset sometime in august, so they say anyway, which is beeter than o2 voda orange etc since they dont even seem to know it exists let alone if or when they will supply it, so i'l be watching the p4u site from now on and 02 and voda can get stuffed since they are so useless these days.

to: abc
it depends on your requirements. if u want a phone with an easy user interface then go iphone 3g. if u want a phone that has all the top features but takes a week to get used to...go with omnia. iphone can't compare with the omnia features (check specs on each) the iphone camera is virtually useless because u will never use it...it sucks! 2 meg with no auto focus or flash vs 5 meg with AF, flash, smile detect, and dig image stabilization? not even same league..let alone same ballpark! windows mobile takes a few days to get used to but after u do it is cool. omnia also has a micro sd slot...iphone...nada. if ur the type who doesn't like having same phone as everybody and their grandmother...go omnia!
