after questioning its video recording capabilities for last 3 days, and not receiving any answers here, I got the answers myself with an hands-on assessment of a video clip..for those photo/video-orientated users
Video resolution: 640x480 15fps .mp4 format, filename SNC-sequential, not in datetime format. fixed focus, not continuous. Zoom (digital, jerky) and pause functionalities during recording. Good shutter response and menu. For a camera video phone, with WM6.1, already not bad..will be dropping my N95 (which video capb.kinda disappoint) for i900. (N95:640x480 25fps, mp4, optical zoom, smooth but jagged images, long shutter lag, unfriendly menu)

      - I own the Omnia. This Phone is great! The interactive TOUCH feature is very intuitive (may be the design is aligned to Windows). I like it much better than the iPhone. Design is fantastic.

However, it has 3 drawbacks: (1) the devise gets very hot within a short time of ussage.
(ii) very short battery life - have to charge every day ! I would like some tips from other readers for how to speed-charge the devise. (iii) the voice quality as a phone is not very good.

Meesh, 27 Jun 2008what is the difference between GPS and the A GPS?A-GPS means 'Assisted GPS' which just means it uses the mobile network to aquire your GPS position faster using location services like on google maps.

I was thinking about f488e (china version of F480. it has no 3g, but has stylus, it is quadband) but realized its freaking impossible to get. so i'm thinking about this phone...the problem is, i use tmobile. am i buying a phone thats too good for what my service provides? (no 3g band capable)

i have just switched from nokia e90 to omnia. of cos, i do miss the number pad but to be fair, i was a htc touch dual user so i have used a touchscreen phone (TSP) before, and it took me just a while to get used to omnia. the weight and the size of omnia felt great although i wish that there can be better grip (i keep fearing that i might drop it!)

Omnia is one of the few TSPs whose screen can be read under sunlight (although it does not come close to the quality of e90). Legibility under the sun is very important to me as i tend to read and reply to messages as i m walking in the outdoors.

i found the screen response of the omnia to be fast enough (nothing to wow me but nothin to complain about either); the few times when it felt laggy, i figured it was probably because i was not accurate in my pressing. scrolling through programs list (which can be accessed via 'main menu/shortcuts/programs) was pretty fast and accurate, and it was the same with the phone book. the transitions between screens were ok, nothing too fanciful, basically just got the job done (thk goodness, unlike the irritating transitions of n78).

typing on the qwerty keyboard in the landscape mode was surprisingly accurate!

the home screen provided by samsung gave me numerous options. contrary to what some website reviews said, the widgets were not slow to respond. They are fine. However, what was better was that there was another samsung home screen (found under 'settings/today') which was even better than the widget, which i ultimately found to be not functional enough. This other samsung home screen functions similarly to the htc touch diamond home screen (but a lot less graphics intensive). eventually, however, i found the windows original home screen to suit me best -- since it could squeeze in lots of information. I then install spb pocketplus 4 and now the home page is perfect for me!

hardware-wise, the camera was acceptable -- but nowhere close to e90 or n82. this was particularly true for the videos. however, video playback using divx was gorgeous on the screen.

file transfer was way way way faster using omnia than all my previous nokia. kudos to samsung!

internet surfing on this phone was tremendously fast (7.2mbps in singapore); however i could not install opera mini on it and had to settle for the preinstalled opera mobile (which is still fine). the preinstall internet explorer and google launcher (using IE) could not work.

I am extremely happy with this phone; glad to be back on the very flexible windows mobile system which allows many softwares to be installed; glad to own a phone by samsung (which is capable of building beautiful phones such as this but in the past had inflexible operating systems).

This in turn would work with the satellites, but you pay data charges to your cell company.

It's supposed to be for a faster lock on.

The website that advertises the Omni on sale for $390 USD is a SCAM!

I contacted him on MSN messenger. He asked for wester union cash transfer as ONLY method of payment. He said he was in London and was initially agreeable to a personal transaction, but would not provide an adress or telephone number.

                                    SCAM! SCAM!

Anyone know where it is actually available online to buy?
