from next week onwards, We can buy from other phone shops also (with plan and without plan). Without plan for 16GB is S$1098 (according to staff from samsung). They do not know about the price of 8GB. I do not know about M1 and SingTel.

I went to omnia roadshow at Ngee Ann City, Singapore. A staff from samsung said that roadshow (20 to 22 June) is for StarHub Plan. We can buy without plan in next week.

The Samsung Omnia is sold at the same price of S$1,098 as the HTC Diamond, without contract, so obviously, Samsung aims for it to be the direct competitor.

I believe Samsung will most probably compete on the same price level as the iPhone (with contract) when it is released in Singapore, or even lower, so as to be seen as the cheaper alternative.

Just wondering if Omnia will come with a version with slide-out keyboard. Unless Samsung's objective is for Omnia to compete on directly with the iPhone, and the competition with HTC Diamond is only accidental since HTC Diamond is being released at the same time, then the competition with HTC Touch Pro is not of consequence.

Samsung is quite capable of producing a phone with slide-out keyboard. They did it with the Samsung F700. I am not surprised that Samsung will do a slide-out keyboard with Omnia since F700 already has a 3 megapixel camera. The next slide-out should most probably have a higher camera resolution, and even as OS i.e. Windows Mobile.

I am in the opinion that the 16GB version is released to be timed with the release of the HTC Diamond.

The 8GB version might then be released to time with the iPhone's release in Singapore, possibly in late July or August.

I wonder if Samsung will release a slide-out keyboard version to compete with the HTC Touch Pro when it is released in August or September.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970They announced that Europe will get it at the end of July and "other markets" in August. I would assume that the US would be one of those other markets.

As for price, in Singapore it's going for $1100 ($800 USD).
