scoopyscoopy, 31 Aug 2010Yes. Google map will not work without data connection but R... moreWell, I have downloaded the Maps and whenever I use GPS, I can see my position quite accurately too.
How do I know if I have Valid License keys.
My second question is - Will Navigation not work at all in R66, if I haven't bought the R66 package. Or will it work like Google Maps does on iPhone - you get the turn by turn navigation, but no voice to guide you. So Some one nect to you has to read it out for you or you have to keep checking the device. I haven't tried navigation for the fear of starting the 30 days trial. I believe that gets activated the first time you try.
My third question is - What is the difference between the Google maps application on iPhone and Android and the Google Maps Widget on Wave
oh, by the way, I have seen a couple of iPhone users use maps "offline" that is without data connection, I am not too sure if they were google maps or some other navigation software

Blue, 31 Aug 2010Yesterday when i went for sleep, the battery level was at 3... moreCan I ask if you stay in an area where there is poor cellular connectivity. If yes, then it could be the reason for battery drain. Cellular phones expend much energy when trying to lock on the a weak signal. When the signal is strong, little enery is utilized.
I have travelled to locations where there was poor cellular coverage and have experienced the same problem, albeit not with Wave, but with Nokia E series phone.
I hope you had GPS switched off as well.

Yesterday when i went for sleep, the battery level was at 35%, over the night my settings were display-1, at flight mode & there were no running apps except Widgets without any packet data connection. In the morning, the battery was @ 21% & now after no usage its at 14%. This time it didnt even lasted for 2days, infact just 1day with normal usage & nothing more.
I am really fed up with its battery life, it doesnt allows me to use my wave's capabilities to full as then it would not even stand for half a day. To let my Wave stand for more days, i just take care to make just limited or normal routine use except with some net surfing which to me is a routine use now.

Indian Waver, 31 Aug 2010Well, I got a question -
I know that OVI maps from Noki... moreYes. Google map will not work without data connection but R66 will work but in R66, you will have to first download the map and need to have valid licence keys.
Without data connection GPS will lock slower, camera and weather updates will not work. A good thing about R66 is turn by turn navigation, doesn't need data connection and quite a decent one but have to pay though.

scoopyscoopy, 31 Aug 2010I thought Sammy's Dive service is only working for UK and G... moreWell, I got a question -
I know that OVI maps from Nokia are downloaded onto the mobile device, much like Route 66 maps and can be used even when there is no data connection or even GSM connectivity. One only needs GPS connectivity. Would Route 66 maps work in the same way too. I mean, I understand that thechnically there should be no issues, but has anyone ever faced that situation
Secondly Google Maps on iPhone and Android devices, as far as I know downloads maps over a data connection each and every time one initiates the application, thereby using a data connection, much like the Googlr Map Widget on Wave. So without GSM and Data connection (GPRS, EDGE or 3G) Google Maps should not work. Would I be correct on this.

scoopyscoopy, 31 Aug 2010I thought Sammy's Dive service is only working for UK and G... moreWell, you are right. The last time I checked Samsung mentioned that Samsung Dive services will be launched across other countries soon.
Seems like I checked up too soon, Only UK and Germany are still the 2 countries where this would work.
I guess I will delete this account now. What a waste though. I almost had the feeling of this phone having iPhonish qualities, remote swipe, remote lock and all

Indian Waver, 31 Aug 2010Well, my Wave loses about 1 % of battery with Samsung Accou... moreI thought Sammy's Dive service is only working for UK and Germany. Have you tried it working? Well, you'd better try it. Don't believe it until it is proven. I tried SOS messaging and it didn't work.
Well, you are a lucky waver then, if your battery drains only 1% / hour even though Sammy's account is there.
Anyway, I am happy with my Wave's battery being back to normal and happy to hear if some other wave's owner battery has improved due to the Sammy's account.
