ahh i dont know why everyone criticises the slide on this fone. Mine seems to work fine not shaky, fagile or any of the other descriptions ppl have been saying. i do notice however the slide is different to the D900 but even so, i think the U700 slide is better. I think i notice what everyone is referring about this 'dodgy' slide. its when u initiate the slide, the screen wants to move up/down all by itself then suddenly stops (it stops for a reason guys). Which is nothing more then the way it was produced to slide. I actually like it! So i highly doubt its a manufacturing fault. Also, when items are made, only a fraction of the products have manufacturing faults and if there is a fault its almost guaranteed to be found when testing is done on the various batches made (which are screened b4 dispatch to stores). there are new characteristics in most new lines and this is one of them.
Comments and more desciptions of what specifically is bad about the slide is more then welcome cos i want to know about it too.

deja vu,
Sorry mate i havent been online much and i have absolutely no answers for your questions. Sounds like u have quite a muk up ur sleeve. the user crazy did say that american 3G is a bit different then other 3G signals. So i guess that may hav something to do with it.
Sorry

Hi huys, i find the screen to be a little shakey when the slide is opened aswell so it sounds like its a manufacturer fault and not an individual thing.

I received my u700 yesterday and I pretty much like it, apart from a few quirks.
Like, WHY does the message counter start at 2295 instead of 160 ._.?
Also, does anyone know the transferrates of phone -> memcard and vice versa?
I want to know it it's worth to buy one of them faster sdmicro's instead of the "normal" ones.

@Lazop
The slide mechanic is a bit "shaky" as you say... But nothing to bother about, atleast not on mine!

There's no torchlight for U700. And when taking pic, the speed is faster compared to e rest of samsung phones. The phone goes into auto locked mode is because it's touchpad. If it don't auto lock, you will accidentally touch the hang button while you are talking on the phone so it's definitely not a bug. I bought this phone recently and the functions are great compared to the older samsung models especially the camera improved tremendously.

It seems that when making a call with the U700, the phone goes into lock mode automatically and so the end call button will not work until you first unlock the phone. Is this a design feature or a bug?

Of course. U700's 3G is European and Asian 3G. Not American 3G. The frequency is a bit different.
