Hi DPG,
Sorry fot the late reply. Yeah, I finally got the phone, but not from the HK seller on ebay. They ended up not having it in stock themselves (they now have it though). I ended up getting it from another eaby seller in Las Vegas for about $450. The phone is great, but having some issues hoping you can help me out.
Issue 1
========
I never get 3G signal on my phone. I only get EDGE or GPRS. My provider is AT&T, and my SIM card supports 3G. When I insert my SIM card in an AT&T phone the 3G signal was received on their phone, so it clearly has to do something with the U700. Any idea what might be going wrong? (BTW I was able to configure my phone and I can now access the internet...not via 3G though :()
Issue 2
========
When I get a voicemail I get the indicator telling me that there is a voicemail. I go listen to it and delete it, and right after I exit my voicemail, I get an empty text message. The sender of this text message is the greek "delta" sign. In addition, the voicemail indicator (that tells me there is a new voice mail) never goes away. I found some sites online in which people describe having the same problems with other phones (not the U700). From what I found, it seems that the text message is AT&T's attempt to remove the voice mail indicator from my device, which doesn't get interpreted successfully from the phone. Is anyone familiar with this issue? Is there something I can do about this in order to fix this? The other sites I found, mention that you can change some hex code on the phonte to fix this. It is not clear to me if this change is the same for all phones or not.

SM, pop into a 3 store and ask since only they'd know.
Sam, general differences are:
U600 is thinner (10.9mm vs 12.1mm) & non-3G compatible. The more subtle stuff u can just search up.
Yes, photos can be taken with either camera. Note that the rear lens is a 3.2MP while the front is just regular RGB meant for video calls.
As for slowness in the menus? i guess thats opinion since the U700 doesnt have an operating system and so shouldnt have much lag.

You can take pictures with either one of the cameras. Although, only one of them has 3.2mp.

I currently have another model of Samsung phone and it frustrates me so as it doesn't stick to T9 mode and you can't add words to the dictionary. The camera also isn't very good. Can you please tell me what those three features mentioned above is like?

For those complaining about the 'sensitive touchy buttons'. i do agree that it is a pain. But be glad its not as sensitive as the Chocolate Bar fone. But hey, its called touch for a reason. im not complaining about the fone, just my fat fingers and unco'ness. Take a bit more time to become adept to it n u'll live.

Just toyed with this thing at the shop and it is slow! Scrolling thru the menus is laggy like a computer with too little RAM. Cleary an under-specced phone.

I forgot to mention - it comes with the Optu firmware. Even if you flash this thing to use Samsung firmware - it won't matter as it doesn't have the hardware capable to play radio.

For Ausies: This phone is being sold by Optus ($599) or Allphones ($629). Optus has exclusivity which means all other vendors must purchase it off them first and then add a profit margin on-top. Just buy it out-right from Optus. Tho i'm holding out for the Nokia 6500 Slide (touch buttons - yuck!)
