Hi, I've had the phone for about 6months now. The silver on the side peels as you all know but worst of all is that I get full reception but sometimes it doesnt let me call outgoing or receieve calls msgs as if it had no reception. It shows i have full reception but the purple NO CALL symbol comes out.. doesnt anyone have any clues? Thanks!

My U700 is now a month old. At first, I had a difficulty installing the installer in Vista but now I can connect it to my phone already! Do not autoplay the CD, just explore it. Choose the install, right click to properties and set to"'XP....", (forgot) close then click the install again. I mean that thing to click to install the software.
Now Im using it to connect my laptop in the internet. Good speed for basic users, I mean like browsing, mail, friendster... maybe not for you tube.. At least I can do a research for assignments. I dont need a broadband, coz I dont use it most of the time. I use pre-paid for my phone so it's like being able to go internet cafe late night or after a bz office work. After all, Smart network doesnt charge per kilobyte. P10/30min, Cheap. That's what I most liked of it!
I like the design especially its being slim and sleek. What i worry about is that corners seem to show sign of peeling problem. I am from Philippines, specifically, what store in Robinsons-Ermita can I find gmasked? please help.!! pa-text naman... +639296435876
I like the camera, it captures crispy pictures.. How I wish i could view my pictures in Full Screen.

Hi!
I really like my u700 but I have to confess I'm having some problems with it:
- I keep getting a "sim card full" message (I know messages can be moved from the sim card into the phone memory but is there anyway to set it to automatically swap between memories? (the d600 did that) or to use the phone memory as default? (I've seen this question asked a few times, but no answer.. did I miss it?)
- I set the phone language to portuguese but some of the signs used in it don't appear. does anyone know how to change that? (the portuguese language uses àáãâ éê í óõô ú ç)
- If I insert the portuguese prefix number (+351) on a contact, the caller ID works on calls but not on sms (it just shows the number, as if it weren't on the contact list, leaving me to guess who sent the message or having to scroll through my contacts looking for that number). If I remove it, then it happens the other way around: I get the ID for the sms that I receive but not on the calls. At the moment what I'm doing is duplicating contact entries (one with the country prefix and another without) but that's not really a solution as not only I'm using more entries on the contact list (which for the moment isn't a problem, but in time it will, as I get more and more contacts in it) plus it makes scrolling through contacts a bit slower.
As I said before, I really like the u700, the looks, the fact that it's so light that one forgets it's in your pocket but these problems I mentioned are really starting to bother me.
All help appreciated :)
Thank you!

Hi all,
First thanks for the tips about the peeling problem. I also have the same and my phone has just 5 months.
My concern here is more about the technicals spec of the phone. Samsung said that the phone is MIDP 2.0 compatible but I have been programming a quite advanced software that runs perfectly on other mobile (nokia, sony) but not mine. Whenever I try to run a .jad file the phone tell me that I have an unsupported file type.
Has anybody encounter the same pb ?
ps: software develop with Nokia sdk S60 second edition. Jsr 118, 135 and 234.

Hi, I just bought the samsung u700 and I'm very worried about the peeling problems that have been posted. Where does it peel from? Besides the peeling problem, does this phone have any other major problems? I would appreciate anyone who can let me know. Thanks.

Ok I've had my eyes on this phone since last year and I've finally decided to buy it - I've had it now for 3 months and so far there isn't anything that I don't like about the phone just for maybe the fact that you can't change the phone theme... other than that it's a GREAT phone >>> good camera (back & front!), good speakers, decent talk time, solid slider, good clickwheel (not loose like the US release of the lg chocolate,)big screen,& there's video call!
Now for som problems that people have been complaining but I find my way working around it...
PEELING- Get CLEAR PROTECTOR fullbody screen protector,(don't buy a case if you want to keep it's slim design,)I got mine off of ebay & I recommend you get this one because it will actually cover the silver sides. G-mask will work too but since I live in the US ebay is my way to go...haven't peeled, period.
TOUCH SENSITIVE- Okay so it is a bit sensitive but it really depends on the person. Some people thinks it annoying well that's their problem for not being able to get used to it,(like maybe they got big fingers, well it's not the phone's fault you have big fingers right?)the sensitivity of the buttons are the same as any other touch sensitive devices.I find it easy to get used to but that's just me. Also getting a screen protector made out of those clear film will reduce the sensitivity.
PLASTIC FEEL- Again depends on the person, if someone doesn't lke a plastic toylike feel that's all on them. I personally think this is a plus because if it isn't made of plastic how else can it be lightweight? Isn't most phones today made out of plastic? But don't worry you'll know this phone is solid when you slide it up because it shows to be very sturdy.
I would recommend this phone to anyone who likes a sleek & very nice looking phone. Remember it is a fashion phone so don't expect big features like nokia. Though it does have decent features you know, lets just say it's not a 'cheap' phone...no sir.

maybe the peeling is caused by your actions, it will not peel ugly if you just took good care of the phone. it's all on the person who handles it. well, at least try not to experiment on it,.
