Hi, ive been using Sharp 903 for few months now, got it unlocked so that i can play mp3 ringtones etc.. and its great! but however, the ringtone is not loud enough, i have set the profile to 'activity' so that it can play it louder but not much help. anyone know how to get the ringtone loud as the sony ericssons?

Hay Everyone... how are ya? I still like my Nokia N70 but i do kinda miss that amazing 903.
Those new Sharp 903 and also the 904 can now be unloked into Test Mode. I dont see any reason to go from a 903 to a 904 tho. Also 905 is a BIG Disapointment! So i guess we are just waiting for the 906 now!! C ya

@ King Art,
You MUST install the software BEFORE you plug-in the cable.
If you have plugged in the cable before you installed the necessary drivers, you have to remove any software and ports associated with the cable.
Simple: Start all over again.
Try to select a different port, but install any relevant software first.
If the phone won't connect through the cable , try to limit the Kbps.
Make sure that you have selected the right port in your Phone Manager/ Flasher.
If nothing else works, make sure that cable is OK and clean out all contacts. You may have a faulty USB/Serial port.

How to play "MP3" on the JAP version
====================================
Briefly, the Japanese Version CANNOT play MP3 files (legal reasons), BUT it can play the much smaller and better MP4 (AAC, AAC+) format.
I would suggest to convert all your MP3's to AAC (128kbps best, M4A) OR AAC+ (64kbps, M4A); AAC+ reduces an average song to 2 MB at the same quality as a 128k MP3.
AAC should not be bigger than 128kbps, any higher will NOT sound better.
T9 Dictionary

No, you cannot install a T9 dictionary for English, only Japanese is supported.

hi everybody, i bought 903sh japanese version, it seems that the phone keep askibg do i want to update data provisioning? anyone knows how to tackle this prob and as i cant open mp3 file, please...????

try doing master reset on ur 903. when you do a master reset all of ur data saved on it will be deleted so make sure all of ur important data saved on ur phone's memory such as contact numbers, schedules etc backed up in ur memory card. if master reset doesn't fix it just have it reflashed and it will be fine already.
i got uk version too. i really love it. planning on flashing to jp firmware soon =D

Hi, I bought 903sh uk version about 5 month's ago. It worked fine in the beginning with occasional freezes. But now, after I turn it on, it freezes within few key strokes and turn itself back on after like 5 mins. one occasion was after turning on the phone, I called it and it just kept ringing and ringing where I had to take out the battery out to stop it before turning itself back on. Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how I can solve it? thanks

got another question, for 903 jp fw, can you only enter a space by tapping the right button twice or can you do it with the "zero" key?

Hey All, As you know i have sold my 903 and i brough the Nokia N70, Here is my thoughts about the both.
-- Nokia N70 vs Sharp 903SH --
Quite a nice looking phone and very nice in the hand, has a very sturdy feel about it (better than Nokia 6680) Nice loud ringingtones that are much louder and clearer than 903, N70 also has a better quality MP3 player and has some cool aplications like muvee for making your own home videos and editing them, This phone also can play video in wide screan like the 903, also the Video recording quality of the N70 is clearer than the 903. The Display on the N70 is really crap, looks like the old style Nokia 65K LCD's. 903 wins on that aspect. The phone has very small buttons, unlike the 903 that has a great keypad that ensures fast texting. Nokia N70 has a very slow UI, unlike the 903 that is a breeze. N70 takes way to long to turn on but then so does the 903 when turning off. That new charger port on the N70 i am not to sure about, seems like it will break very easily! Of course the Still images arnt as good as the 903 and 903 still looks better but i think that N70 performes almost on par with the 903. Overall i still prefer the 903 and i think that i always will over Nokia phones, the N70 has a FM radio which is nice also the MP3 is SO much louder than the 903, which is an important feature for me. If you are having trouble deciding which phone to buy, 2 words....Go Sharp!!

Hey Kenny, I actualy brought the Nokia N70, I went off the N91 also, I do agree with you about not using 903 hardware to it's full potential, That is the great thing about the 903 JAP Firmware, has 3 diff themes. I havnt gotten my N70 yet, i got it cos i wanted a change and it has a Radio. N80 and N71 will be cool, I think that N71 will be the cheapest one out of them. So do you still have your 903? i recomend selling it before the 904 hits the european market!! C ya Kenneth.... hehehehe

"timmy" im not going for n91 because of the screen resolution & im really interested in the ultra classy looking n71 or n80?the n80 has a lowish batt time but good screen & all are powered by symbian which i pref much moreer to windows...wat bugs me about 903 is that it has a great screen with 262,144 colours to use & vodafone seem to use red black & white whilst browsing texting etc,,they could make the screen hues work more making the whole fone a more enjoyable expreriance.All the glitz is there in the fone its just not using the fone to its potential & sharp could have done it better on there own without the voda partnership im sure you"d agree...things are changing rapidly at moment so will see what comes out of hannover!!!
p.s.its good being called kenny my parents still call me kenneth & that sounds old to me only 30

Welcome back Jesse. Games can only be dwnloaded to 903 by WAP using your service provider's web browser. There's 1 website/wapsite that you can download games from(Thanks to KShinn)>>>http://republika.pl/sharp902. Try to open it on your computer's internet first and choose which one you like before using your 903.
Do you mean kits for flashing the asian version? You will need a smart cable and some programs to do that and Timmy knows very well the subject. Sadly he's no longer a 903 owner but he can help you more than I could in flashing s/w. Good luck

how can i amplify the sounds of my 903? are there any softwares that can help me do that? i have uk firmware. just followed timmy said. having no problems so far.
