Ok, Litlle bit of advice for all people with their troubless about sx1. Go on allaboutsymbian.com and find smartphones-sx1. Read some compatibility chart, becouse many of problems issued here are from incomp memory cards. DO NOT take MMC with phone on even if its posible. Some of bug problems will be solved with SW 15 (comes in 3 months officially on siemens site).
I use FW15 retail.uk-de-ru for two weeks,
this is some of the features:
1. reset and freez problems are solved
2. sound is much louder like m65 or other non simbian phones. (at last!)
3. more optimized software, so more speed
(much quicker then 6600 compared side by side)
4. better speed connection
5. and last thing it allows to have full screen picture (even behind clock and network name - needs some hacking!!!)

I had this phone and it is a good phone.it takes awhile to get used to where the keys are for texting,especially if you are used to the same old,same old Nokia layout but overall it has loads more features than the Nokia 6600(I have had that phone too)and lots of memory which is expandable.Yes thats what comes in the box with this phone(see review below)BUT...it has a short battery life and is very fragile(which I found out)as I dropped it(and not even hard either)while it was IN A STURDY CARRY HOLSTER and the phone died on me as well as the screen splintering.I sent it away and had it fixed($320AUD for a screen)and on getting it back the phone has died again after only a month and now it has had to go back again and Siemens say I voided my warranty by dropping it in the first place(but they are looking at it under the 3 month warranty they give on the work they did fixing it in the first place)so overall this phone is way too fragile for everyday use and I wasnt even using it much either as I have other phones and some of the old Nokias I have dropped over and over and they are still alive and kicking,these newfangled phones with all the fancy bells and whistles on them are far too fragile and I would stay away from this phone if I had my way over again.It cost me $899AUD to begin with...............

im currently bidding on a SX1 on Ebay but im having second doubts because of all the complaints? is it really that bad? My previous phone was a N-gage, which has louder speaker?

Don't compare 6600 with SX1. SX1 is the best phone in that moment. In my country SX1 about 400 euros & 6600 250e

yes it does, all you have to do is to copy your wav file in your nikia/sounds/simple and then select'em from the ringtones menu

Dear Friends:
As I read your ideas in this column, I decided to give you a true review of mine.
At first,I better mention that THIS HANDY WORKS GREAT ONLY FOR A PROFESSIONAL USER.
SX1 Advantages:
It has an exclusive great look, ELEGANT, esp at night when its on.(Personnal Matter)
Having the Symbian(60 series) for OS caused it to have a lot of developers and therefor ALOT OF WONDERFUL SOFTWARES, if you are a professional user you will notice that this is one of the most important features of a phone.
It has PLENTY OF FUNCTIONS AND FEATURES which you can find them in related menus, so if you think this is not a user friendly phone, I guess your not familiar with menus at all,u'd better get a Samsung.(Have an objection? ask Symbian)
To be honest, SX1 has a good battery lifetime(although not the best ever), comparing to N6600 and SE K700i, seems SX1 has a more battery lifetime (up to 6 hours more).
it takes alittle more than 2 days for an ordinary use, but if you want to whatch movies with it it will last one whole day.
but if you are not satisfied with it consider the following notes
1-your battery is not a true Siemens one(I had this problem so changed the battery)
2-you may dont know anything about SmartPhones or you are trying to compare a regular phone with this kind.
MP3 player and Wonderful MP3 quality through its handfree which is the best while you can extend your Mem.and also a good Radio.
among other features I can mention: Acceptable PC software and data transfer rate, nice icons, camcorder,....
SX1 Disadvantages:
1-Lacking the MP3 for ring tones.
2-Very Very weak and ofcourse ridiculous loud speaker
3-I'm not satisfied with the camera quality, although its preciesely equal with N6600, SE P900 and also much better than SE K700i
4-Lack of themes
The rest of the features are equal to its brother N6600, festures like: Halting on programms(which i ONLY experienced them in the first week), CPU speed, fine large display(TFD), decent Blutooth, Expandable Mem. , ....
