imode have lesser capabilities with internet browsing just as gsmarena proved to us. the non-imode version has great internet browser that allows page to be viewed as how it looks on the desktop PC view. SE W710,W880 and W850 review here at this site.

Can anyone tell me that the difference is between the K550 and the K550im? What is i-mode, and why does it make the rating for K550im lower than the K550?
Sorry, I'm buying my first mobile phone after almost 4 years. So i'm a bit naiive.

K550i is a PERFECT BLEND!!!
GUYS!!! the only thing i can say is that the one your reading from the review of gsmarena is that the k550i they are using is a beta version not the actually retail version.

First and foremost i am a valued nokia customer for almost 9 years now, not that i hate other brands but i am just loyal and amuzed by nokia phones. but when i saw this phone it strucked me like lightning, i mean the design, the way it looked, how it feels and mostly the functionality...
first the phone is good to feel because it's lightweight and the buttons are easy to press... design is awesome... very elegant and stylish... as well as the design of the camera.
functionality...
although the system doesnt run of series 60 os, the system runs smooth and doesnt hang at all, the menus are very user friendly and easy to get the hang of it...
Music player... music player menu and interace is great although the loudspeaker doesnt produce sound as loud as nokia phones. but with regards to music output through a headset; sony ericson puts with the fight.
Radio produces good quality sounds aswell...
now for the main event...
Camera (Cyber shot)
when it comes to camera phone Sony ericson puts a good fight because of its Cybershot camera... K550i produces great quality pictures... i say so because i was a photojournalist before. specially under dimlight condition. you will still be able to produce high quality picture. as well as the video mode, it is not that pixelated even in the dark...
summary:
interface is good, user friendly, long lasting battery, good sound quality, mp3 phone, great camera funtionality, great screen display and very head turning design... Good job se...

how come my k550i speaker not as good as k750i speaker? i want complaine about this...the sound quality so poor!!!!!

what i really like on SE is that it matches all my preference. all of it's phone are undefeated when it comes to the quality i wanted. i loved it's sharp,clear sound even it's not as loud as the others, i loved it's camera that exhibits sony's motto "like no other", i loved it's extremely fine GUI as it's the first phone to sport menu animations in both non-os and OS models (K700 and P990), i loved it's fast interface and multitasking features and faster Java3D rendering(with the help of JP-7). and the best of all i loved it's very good battery backup which is undefeatable even having less mAH rating compared to others(which means faster charging, lesser electric consumption) and the solid looks, feelings and ease of use(2nd from nokia S40 as the most user friendly phones)
some SE's software advantages:
1.free theme creator with support for all phones in one software(including smartphones and non-smartphones)
2.user frienly update service
3.if you use broadband, then you can enjoy it's animation rich website and update service tutorials.
4.there are three available phone managers at present. the float's mobile agent, myphone explorer and the official software sonyericsson file manager. all softwares were free and has unique features and functions and are user friendly too.
5.SE phone softwares are generally better as i have used so many brands.(noteL this is just my own findings)
thats the reason why i stay loyal to SE.

The flash of this phone is the same as the K750i LED... why SE would brand this as Cybershot, I have no idea.
It's essentially the same as the K750i, with quadband, and upgraded software.

@Marina - I have the Gmail app installed and it works fine. I don't know what you mean by advanced browser but I personally use Opera mini.

Audio: First at all; This phone is a K-version! The Walkman version is a W-version!
If you consider to get a Walkman phone, get a W-version!
K-version is a camera phone! Cyber Shot! Yes, it is a Cyber Shot phone!

if you compare the 2mp camera of k550 and the 2mp camera of w810...what is the best?

First off, Pathetic keypad. Once I used the keypad, I knew I wasn't buying this one. Yuck!
Appearance: This phone looks pretty good in the promotional pictures. In person, it is BLAND. As far as I am concerned, only the w880 is uglier than the K550.
The camera: Don't go by the ads. Its no Cybershot. Many people buy Sony Ericsson phones beacuse they are great phones with a decent camera and music sounds really good on any SE phone. Well, the cam on the K550 is lousy. Cybershot? Not!
The K750/W810 and the K800 have the best cameras in SE. Period.
Audio: Like any SE phone, the K550 has a top flight music player. Sounds good. Hell, it even allows you to choose between Phone mode and In-flight mode when you switch it on. And its not even a Walkman! I must say SE phones are the best when it comes to audio quality. Even my wife's Z550 sounds great. Take that, Nokia.
Conclusion: K550 sucks.
Spend your money elsewhere. Or you are gonna feel cheated.
All things considered, I would not recommend you spend your hard-earned money on this marketing gimmick. For the same price or less, you can get a SE W700. Its a real Walkman phone, sounds great, Cam is 2 Megapixel (No autofocus, but still WAY better than the K550.) The only thing The W700 lacks is autofocus and EDGE. I had a SE W700i. Loved it. I lost it and bought the W810i. (Another brilliant phone.) If I hadn't lost it, I would probably have held on to it for a few years.
And am I the only one who thinks the W880 sucks bigtime?
Sony is up to its old tricks again. First, they release some really top notch stuff. Then, they put out trash like this to cash in. Wil they never learn?
