lucas, SONY has the best LCD and plasma TV now aside from Handycam,,, and samsung is next to them, another is that samsung digicams are far behind from cybershots canon, fuji, hp, nikkon care the brands to beat cybershots, so don't dare to say samsung has the best technologies.

no...the reason why they annonced this phone so early is because its other competitors like samsung and nokia are far ahead of sonyericsson and they are trying not to fall to far behind. yes they are trying to get peoples attention, but they're just doint that so people dont forget about them

Rehman. If you want to save sms's syncronize with your pc once in a while to archive them . I don't see any reason why a phone should be able to store more than 200 sms's.

I can't wait to get my hands on this phone! It rox!..I think the reason why SE announced this phone so early was to get as much attention on the model as possible. If they had waited till a few weeks before releasing it they wouldn't sell as many copies..I figure it will be out in stores in about three weeks or so.

Main disadvantage of Sony Ericssons all phones is They have limited messaging.you can save only 200 Sms's even in costly sets like w800i,w900i...etc..there is limit of 200 sms's in all sets of Sony Ericsson.those who want messaging they cant use Sony Ericsson!!so this is main disadvantage n due to this reason i got rid of w800i!

I have to agree - SE suck for announcing such good phones (including the new p990) and yet taking months to deliver. Obviously done to try and stop people buying other makes. They might as well announce future ones over the next 10 years.

okay im calm now haha..
sonyericsson doesnt "suck" their production is just very very slow, their biggest problem is that they show people their phones 6 months to a year before they are for sale. i remember in early 2004 when the k700 z500 and s700 were announced on the sonyericsson website. and back then i was interested in getting the s700 but it wasnt realesed yet. i waited a couple of months and it still wasnt realesed, so then i just decided to go with the samsung sgh-d415. then a few months later around october or november i saw that cingular was selling the s700i. but maybe thats just because i live in america? i dont know but i do know that im never buying a phone from here, all my phones from now on are from overseas. i now have the samsung sgh-d820 and i couldnt be happier. sonyericsson might have a slow production problem, but so far i havent seen any production problems with nokia or samsung. except for the nokia n91 which was announced last summer and just came out for sale about 2 or 3 months ago. so my guess is the sony ericsson k790 wont be for sale for another 6 months or so.

I agree with you lucas, probably samsung have more tech inside samsung phones that any phone, and as you say they have the top phones in the world. But is a pity because these phones are only for korean market, and samsung have their own semiconductor division but buy technology from ericsson like cell phone plattforms and buy pattent licensses from ericsson (EDGE, GPRS, UMTS, CDMA EV-DO, Bluetooth, etc). Its because with this purchases samsung save time in develop newest and own parallel technologies in these areas. The same case is with LG, Sagem and other manufacturers.
Ericsson is the world´s No 1 developer in communication technologies and has the mayor number of pattents in wireless communications segment. And Sony is the leader in consumer electronics products.

Chichvarkin, how could you ever say that nokia and samsung suck?????? are you f@#$*&! out of your mind. yeah sony ericsson is a great cell phone manufacturer but so are samsung and nokia. sonyericsson are pretty good all around phones, they are basicially just good for imaging and media. on the otherhand nokia phones are excellent for someone who works in an office, the data cappabilities are amazing, and nokia is far more advanced in video than sonyericsson. alot of people wont admit this but samsung if probably the best technology and appliance manufacturer in the world. they make the best plasma tv's, lcd screens, refridgerators, cell phones, ect.... in the cell phone buisness samsung has been years ahead of all of its competitors. samsung is already up to 10 megapixels on they're camera phones, 8gb hard drive, they have the worlds slimmest phone at 6.9 mm!!!!!!! they have had phones with tv since 2001, they have the best dmb phones. and to top it of, almost all of there phones have a sleek, sexy, unique design. samsung is just about the best cell phone company there is, you cant really compare it to any of its competitors because they're so far ahead of them. but dont get me wrong, companies like nokia and samsung and amazing too.

The joystick of the k790 and the k800 is similar to the one of k750i. Surely it would start to give problems after using it for sometime. I really dont knw why SE cant come up with a solution for the joystick.

The K790a since it is 850/1800/1900. You need the 850/1900 bands in North America. But I here a rumor that the K790 is actually going to be changed due to the delay to Quad Band GSM 850/900/1800/1900. This won't affect the K800 but it might be the reason for the delay of the K790.

K790 only differs in EDGE pressence and lack of front videocall camera.
K800 has UMTS and supports videocall, while K790 has EDGE but no 3g.
Both phones built in the same plattform and share the same characteristics

I don't think this cell-phone K790 is being released this quarter. I spoke to an associate in sony ericsson and he told me that this cell-phone is having some problems and will be delayed until the end of Q3 or early Q4. And it's expected price has been calculated to $632.50 US.

The new K790 looks decent, but the k800 looks even more superb. Looking forward to getting this in my hands for a few months. Got a bag of spanners at the moment, looking forward to the release date, Q2.
