I got this phone with an O2 contract in the UK. The phone's firmware is R9G007.
I tried using Fring. It wont make the test call - some kind of application error is reported and Fring restarts.
Thought I should see if I could update the firmware. Tried using the update service software. It identified the phone as being P1i-O2-UK. But was warning me that I'd loose all user data if I continue with the upgrade.
Some questions -
Has anyone had any issue with using Fring on this phone, especially in the UK?
Does the user data actually get deleted when upgrading the firmware? (The demo on SE website suggests otherwise).
What's the latest version of firmware for this market? Any significant improvement over R9G007?
Any replies would be much appreciated. Thanks.

hey, i was thinking of getting a P1i, but am not sure if the LED flash can be used as light for taking videos. if not maybe i'll just get the K850i, the Video has a dedicated LED aside from xenon for taking still images..thanks!

Hello P1i community,
I like to use the sms function a lot. Specially to send at once a group of people the same sms text. In my old SE 700i I could create groups easily.....but here i am stuck.
Can anyone help/tell me how to create groups,
ans send an sms to those groups. Thanks a lot from cold and wet Luxemburg ( somewhere nnear France in Europe.

got dis fon 2 days ago..better battery life,wifi is more stable than P990 n no more hang problem..worth buy

I bought this phone 2 days ago. Everything works fine but the reception. The bar fluctuates all the time and I lose the signal a lot for a few seconds. Is this a common issue and did by any chance any of you faced such problem with your handset (any type of Sony Ericsson). Is there any way to get rid of it?

hi,
i hv a p1i, cn anyone tell me how do i open an hidden file. in my phone it is not visible in file manager. i hd p990i earlier wherein i goto the file manager and select the particular file remove the tick from the file's properties. in p1i i am not able to find the file at all it is invisible, instead i hv to connect the phn to my comp to retrieve the file. cn anyone hlp me solve this problem

P1i and P990i have same Operating System So there is lot of Problem r same in Both
So u Can say P1i Vs P910i
Expect of Camera and Fm Radio
P990i is Out Of Competition Because of very poor and Low Ram Memory and Poor Display under in direct Sunlight
Contacts
We cant add more then 24 ya 26 number (Fields) in each contact and we cant write Alpha Numric in Numeric Field
This Feature is avail in P910i
We cant write Unlimited like P910i in Notes field of Contacts
Call Logs And Calls About
If u have saved any number from call log (Example) if some one calling u from Any Unknown Number and after attending that call its Show the Message Add to Contacts and u added that after adding in Contacts There is No Option For Show The Contact as u have Added this Feature is avail in Previous All P-Series
Call log is Not Unlimited 450 Call Entries it can Save
There is no option undo delete entry
There is no option to Record the Phone Conersatoin
There is no Call record (Voice Call) Feature in all P-Series
Messages
U cant write unlimited like all Previous P-Series Very Bad Thing in P990 and also in P1i u cant write more then 28 Messages as i have in P910i Valentin's Day History that was Sent By One of My Friend
and its Up to 50 messages P990i and P1i both r unable to open it
Delivery Status after sending message Only for Once it shows the time when the message have sent if again u want to check when the message have sent u cant check time it only shows Messge Sent Successfully
We cant Move the Sent Messages to anyother desire Folder but this thing is avail in P910i
Notes
Same Bad thing as i told u about Messages close all the Messages or Notes without Irforming Us and Without Saving any Letter
We cant write Unlimited in Notes and in Messages
.txt File
P1i not open the file size more then 70 to 90 ya Over 100 Kb file Size this Bugg is also reported in P990i
We cant create unlimited .txt File
P910i can open the 1Mb file size easily
Media
Music Updation is very very slow its Taking 3 to 4min for update the Music Files
There is manual settings
Web
We cant copy paste the text as much as we want

Bluetooth:
I found out that I can refresh services from PC only after pairing, but still cannot make any connections even in this state.
I did a reset to factory defaults, the result was the same.
One new tab appeared though, when I select the paired device, there is a second tab: services. It has two options: ok, refresh.
So it shows what should be working. :)
(Btw I'm using IVT BlueSoleil driver.)

i think you have to tap the word suggested on the top to choose it.
To switch off T9(predictive text):
When you are in the typing screen, tap "more" on your bottom right hand corner, then tap "text option", uncheck "predictive text" on the last line.

Guys I need help! I got the phone today, great and everything, but I have a problem. For some reason the firmware I have is not World, it's TAIWAN R9J005!! I need to get World because I need to download new languages from SE Support, and they only have stuff for World. Does anybody know where I can get it? PLLLEEEEEAAAAAASSSSSEEE!!!

thank you very much for your help, now i got to write it in elglish, but I still have a problem though I write a word it doesn't keep the word it ask me to chose from a list on top,
and bro where do I find the T9 mode tried to look for it but couldn't find it.

I tested 3G connectivity by switching to 3G only mode. Calls and smses were fine, but the signal strength was hectic. It is very weak inside buildings as well. If you don't use it, disable it.
Btw I just updated to R9J005. Here are my initial experiences:
- bluetooth service discovery was not fixed
- free memory after upgrade: 81.5 mb
- the whole phone is faster, if I turn on transitions it still beats R9H004 without the animations...
