The latest firmware is generic2 CDA162007/2 R6E28 but this being a chinese origin P990i it cannot be upgrade being harware restricted.As a End User this 250$ cell has same UIQ software thats on W960 p1 or any latest SE.Their prices being 500plus$.The Brick like effect can be tolarated when Wlan Bluthoth or web brows allavail with card slot support 2GB. {fineemina might hav answers} taskmang on rght corner should be regularly used to cloze apps to free ram. i tink p990i is a very good hp.of couz u cant expect it to work perfect..there is some problems with the hp bt tt is normal for hp..u juz need to close programs u use already by task manager..love this hp so much..perfect fone for me..has all function.

i read one of ur review and the P990i i bought is branded P990i and not Quickshare. But that is not the problem i want to ask is Generic 2 the only software update for my phone or i can still update further if yes pls tell me how to go about it.

i have just update the firmware of my phone to R9GA001. and i want to update it even further so i tried the same process but it still loads this same firmware i need help to upload even further.
please tell me how to get the latest firmware and how to update it as well.

I just upgrade my phone to P990 and a P1i with navigator. I went with t-mobile and paid $250 for both phone, what a deal!!!!

just go to www.sonyericsson.com/support...
download the sonyericsson update service to your pc and then install it. after installing, click the icon update service on your desktop and then follow instruction.. i wish this would help you..

about your keypad, its normal(but for GERMAN market..)
you probably bought a unit for Germany trade.
you should've inspected the unit and asked for a normal US or Asia unit...
Sony Ericsson did it purposely... it was not a mistake.
you can check other units like 02 XDA, they have a QWERTZ keypad as well.

bought my unit last week- my inner keypad is NOT a QWERTY pad, it is a QWERTZ pad... yup! you read right! z occupied slot for y and vice versa. is there anybody else with the same concern or am i the only one? paging sony ericsson... quality control please :)

I just bought myself a p990 last month
and i have questions.....
1. where can i download the latest firmware of p990/can i just download it to my pc and install it at once,are their any requirements before installing?
2.im having problems opening some of my word doc on my
phone. files more than 130kb cant be viewed
it says not enough memory.and ive already closed other running applications and i have 15.7mb availble which only allows you to open 130kb word doc files.
3.i cant send and receive mms i already went to globe to configure it but its still not working,ive also tried configuring the mms settings on sonyericsson.com but still to no avail..

is the latest firmware update out yet? the SE website of uk shows the version of 2.7.9.14-1 whereas the software still in my pc reads 2.7.6.8-1, which is the latest?
