To phlim: well I don't use a card reader but when my p990 is connected in mass storage mode the properties page shows that its FAT(not FAT16 sorry my mistake). I was just sharing personal experience, i've got 1 GB card and it runs like as if of 64Mb(high speed) formatting to FAT32 really slowed it down but now its not an issue. Check to see if ur card is faulty or not genuine. AND for more speed try this: open ur most used appl. (like messages, file manager and media player) in background when working, only close the ones u use very less(like camera for eg). The phone works fine. Mine dosen't restart. JAVA appl. close themselves when exited so don't worry abt them taking RAM. This is similar to pc: it loads commonly used programs in RAM for easy work.

i have this phone for almost 9 months now, i got also 3 other cell phones but P990i is amazing and works fine in IRAN, anyways... i got over 700 SMS on phone memory,does anybody know how to move all messages to memory card OR move all messages to another phone ????? BTW i got 512 MB mem card. please adv.

AAARRRGGGHHH!!!! I'm torn between the Samsung SGH-i600 and Sony Ericsson P990i. Please help me pick! Which one do you think I should get???
Here are the pros of each (in my humble opinion):
i600: design (thin/small; great surface texture), HSDPA, one-handed use, WM OS, "g" Wifi,
P990i: excellent camera, large touch screen (although could be a con - see below), FM Radio, document editors (quite important for me)
While the touch screen function is cool and may make web browsing and document editing easier (especially for spreadsheets), the single-hand usability of the i600 is also a big plus for me. I like the way the i600's keyboard is laid out though, and the placement of the scroll wheel is just right for single, right-handed use.
As for price, I find them quite comparable where I'm from (the Philippines), with the P990i being very slightly cheaper (probably since the model is more than a year old). Although the slightly more expensive price of the i600 doesn't include a MicroSD card, while the P990i has a 64MB MS Duo in the package.
I'm leaning towards the i600, but just wish it had WM6 so I could edit Office documents on it. Any chance it can be upgraded from the stock MW5 to MW6 in the near future?
I'd really appreciate your thoughts.

abe or someone like that said to increase speed of p990 to reformat the memory card to fat 16 as fat 32 will not suit the p990 and to reformat the card t fat 16,,IVE taken 2 days to clear out my 4gb memory card to other cards for temporary storage and for matted 10 times using the p990 but when i put it into card reader TO find out the properties of the card on my comp its still fat32 ?? is someone pulling my leg or is their another way to do this,, anyway ive tried the play demo vid and stop after a few seconds trick and been pleased with the results ...Next what i intend to do is buy the 8 gig card as im going to reinstall all the 4gb worth onto this so ive got the extra mp3s and videos i want..Ive complained a lot about this fone but it does seem different with whe above trick,,, i will stick by it but im going to buy an s/e v630 ive seen in voda store with the free speakers as a back up when ive thrown the p990 to one side again which i hope with the demo trick wont be often...

Hi all! I'm planning to get the p990i. Used to use pocket pc phone but find it troublesome to sms. Currently using w850i & pocket pc. I keep alot of mp3, 3gp other files in my pocket pc. Most of my mp3 is in my w850i. Pls advice. Cheers.

using an N73 and P990i is very different... N73 is a smartphone centered on multimedia features while P990 is a PDA smartphone centered on OFFICE features and some multimedia features...
if i would choose, i would go for P990i coz its far more capable of doing more jobs than N73... you could do many things wid P990i dan N73... the thing that i really liked about the p990i is it having a large and clear screen, touch screen too... its better too, more classy...
p990i freezes, but if u really use the task manager well and close the applications that u are not using, and not overloading the phone wid so many applications working, it wont freeze on you...
i would highly recommend p990i ^_^

i really love this P990 model of sony ericsson, and i think that the memory card should be increase to something like 128MB or 256MB.

hear so much problems of P990 with the old version of firmware EXCEPT R9F011, hesitating to get one. In China selling RMB2880.00 equivalent to SGD576, it is imported set as this model not available for sale in China.
Also seen so many forums talking about upgrade the firmware to R9F011 but nobody seems give the actual website for the upgrade. I have tried the www.sonyericsson.com but unable to find it.

LOW alarm - just set the SHORTEST possible tune for the alarm like the preinstalled Default - it goes louder every repeat!!!
