I believe that come June 2006, SE is going to announce that it is going to be delayed again to Q3.
This cellphone is too slow too late to launch and too overpriced.

So what am I supposed to do when there is no 3G network in my area ? There will never be one :( On the other hand there is EDGE! 98% of Switzerland has EDGE for almost a year now but less then 20 has 3G coverige :( 3G will never substitute EDGE ! Actually the other way around may be more factual :)

There's no prob. with this phone, it's only being upgraded as mentioned before..so the company delayed the released date...since there's 3g , there is no need for EDGE anymore..

This is Vapor-ware. SE have not been able to launch a 'Smart cell' for 1 and a half years now ! In the fast cell market that is a life time. Best SE a.t.m. is the old P910i :( Even Alcatel and Sagem is better ! If you want cutting EDGE Symbian look no further than the Market Leader NOKIA N80 :)

I just wonder if this this serie has any problem cause in the schedule it will on market since the end of 2005 but till now not available. anyway, i hope this serie not make the Sony Ericsson down.

this is the closest thing to the PERFECT PHONE these days...
of course it still misses things, that's why it's not perfect!
the main thing is the memory... it needs a 4-8 GB micro HDD
and i think... the operating sistem should be improved... it's not that friendly... it's not like nokia's symbians... i dunno...
and the next phone in this series (probably P999) should be a simple-clasic bar phone... what's with all the flip-flops and sliders and stuff like that?
It's a phone, not an action-figure!
that's it... that's my opinion!

I think, there's no need QWERTY since most people used the dial number to send SMS.
It's better to remove the QWERTY and get an extra large to the display (LCD). That's feature will make you the greatest "Phone" in the world.... (3G/GPRS/LAN/Good Operating System/Long-life Battery)

guys will this phone ever come? i have nokia 7610 for almost an year. first i decided to change it by NokiaN70 but later back in october when i read about this phone i was so happy that this phone will rock. but where is this phone? Sonyericsson said that it'll be launched in jan-06 but it was just a hoax. Tell me guys something if this phone flops then what shall we do? i am symbian + touchscreen lover. i still think that this phone will beat nokia.com but my only question is will it ever come or not ?

that is fantastic.it is the end of phone mobile and a good response to adherents of nokia.i offer to SE company to add quality of k800 camera(3/2 mp) and w950 memory capacity(4GB)to this phone.

anybody who ve read mobile-review states tat p990 is going 2 ve e cam changed n technical spec regarding tis would change 2. wat does tat mean? upgrading of only focal distance on cam or improving video formatting/fps or a mega improve of mp -> 3.2mp?

@kiki, why u need a 3.2mp on this machine? Would it be nice if it's cyber shot 7mp!!! hahaha... SE... come on... Sony cybershot is so famous around the world.. give us something better. Anyway, the k800 rocks.

From what I understand this phone will have 3 ways of inserting data: the QWERTY key board, the stylus, and the hand recognition method. Leaving the hand recognition aside, and considering the stylus is more than adequate the QWERTY keyboard is ton really necessary. The space taken by this could have been an extended display length. This way you would have had an excellent PDA, and an extraordinary phone. On the other had it should have been the QWERTY keyboard which should have been detachable and not the numeric keypad. Honest opinions about this phone.

been using P910i 4 well over a year, needs d P990i fast, how come it takes SE so long 2 release this model, now SE is coming up with 3.2 MP,...still no sign of P910i
