good day to all of you. I bought my very own p990 a few days ago and im pretty much contended about it. big screen, nice camera, and its multi function capability. the only downside for me is the size. it doesnt fit on my pocket. but i dont care really. who wants a small phone with little functions anyway. can somebody tell me if the front camera can be use in taking pictures? and how do i use the wifi? can it support an 4 gig memory card? tnx

doing a firmware upgrade (R6E28) and getting Tweak Peaks software(find it on your own though, hehe) installed will give you 200% boost in speed. lags and restart problem solved. all in all i love this phone. wifi, camera ( even better than some 2 megapix that i had so far). pocket word ,excel . games.dvd quality movie playback. the only downside for this phone is its sheer size. other than that it's perfect

I used this phone for almost 6 month, i'm very dissapointed with this phone, it's always restart by itself when i'm try to use the camera, i don't know why.. and now my phone at the service center for 2 weeks.. when i have it back, i will directly sell it and buy a Nokia E51...

Time has come that the P990i specs are already dated. The interface is not user friendly. this phone might be rather thick for my pocket.
The only thing that never fail to amaze me UNTIL NOW is it's unique physical design. Yes it's thick but it makes it the most macho looking phone ever! it's plastic built might have tricked us to look like metal but who cares it works! For me it's design will never loose out of fashion. Other phones look feminine if not plastic looking.

Hi,
I have p990i with the latest s/w and also the PC suite upgraded. I can connect it to my PC and do the backup and restore but cannot Sync the Contacts to my MS outlook.
I have tried all things told by the SE support, diable firewall, antivirus, etc. but yet no result.
Can someone let me know of a software that can do that or a solution for this problem?
It does not even give and error code, simply says 'Syncronization failed'

The slow starting of SMS in P990i has nothing to do with the processor. Even a prehistoric Nokia 5110 can start SMS in less than a second. I believe the slow start is a result of inefficient programming design sonyEricsson implemented to their messaging interface.
Seems it wastes precious seconds by refreshing the screen several times and also visits inbox, outbox and drafs before finaly launch new SMS!

In general,Its a nice phone.but It have 2 terrible problems.
First, the phone will restart by himself when it run too much program.
The Second one is much more terrible.P990i is very slow.It means that from memu to further memu will take few seconds.Just like open to compose a new message will take me more than 5 seconds. Terrible... Seems processor is not very well.

I have problem texting with this handset.
I don't know what key to press in-order to end a multitap letter. So that i can select another letter belonging to the same key.

You can now use the flash as flashlight without having to hold on the camera button. Open the camera lens cover, press the camera button lightly so that the flash is on. Now don't release the camera button, keep it pressed and use jog dial to change camera mode to "video". You may now release the camera button. I just discovered this accidentally, but someone told me that it was posted on dotsis almost a year ago.

the phone is a very nice phone but when playing a loaded sound/music. it has a low sound volume which needs to be improved.

dont expect much for a PDA when it comes to texting. I bought my p990i last month and it is the best phone I ever had. It can play full movies as long as the movie file is mpeg4. Screen resolution is very high but i tried lowering the backlight to save battery. This phone can even be matched up to nokias new N Series phones.
