hi. i have this fone for close to one month now . i really like it coz of it's color and the feaures. mine's the yellow one. and the buttons on my fone didn't crack, hopefully it would stay that way. :p

does the keypad cracking only happen to the black model or does it happen with the yellow model too? please let me know!!

I have this phone and yes all the buttons have cracked. I have spoke to Sony and thay said to post them my phone and they will fix the problem free of charge and have my phone back to me within 3 days....

Does SE pay for postage for sending the phone in to replace cracked keypads?

Well since everyone is wondering why the keypad is always cracking i might as well tell you. It's because of the color. apparently the greenish color chemical base is reacting with the keypad when pushed so after a few days/weeks the key cracks. :]

do not buy!!!
i had this phone for not even 48 hours before my first key cracked, a week later all of the keys except the * key had cracked. the ebay store i bought it from would not refund me, so i was forced to send it in to sony. still waiting to get it back...

hello i just wanted to know if its possible to change the side lights to green, because my one is set to a white light, but i seen some people have a green light. can ne1 help me here, thanks

The keypad is the problem in this phone, but what most worries me is the ear speaker (lots of noises, uncleare static sound, bluetooth not compariable w/range rover). I've owned this phone for two month and sold it on ebay :)...just got myself SONNY K550, much better phone..

I'm seriously thinking bout getting this phone, it looks so pretty! I'm holding back and worried due to the issue of "keypad crack." So based on your 3-months ownership of this phone, what's the reasons why the keypad breaks? Please advise...

Had this superb phone for 3 months now, Im a txt'r not a caller and i've not had one single problem with it! I love it!
I am however tempted by the W910...

Alright, so I posted about a month ago about getting my keypad replaced with a newer keypad from SE after my keypad cracked, it cracked again this morning, the #2 key. I was confident that it wouldn't, but after 4 weeks of normal usage it did. I hope that retailers online start to sell replacement pads soon b/c I'm sure we'll all need some eventually.

I have had this phone for over a mounth and there is absolutely no problem with my keypads...maybe i was lucky but if you're considering this phone, i would say go for it..

i own this phone for about a while now .. and the keys are perfectly normal.. there are not cracks or whats so ever.. my only problem is that.. the camera.. sometimes it doens't show, there's a black screen... but other than that.. IT'S PERFECT.. well i love it

my phone is working perfectly fine. the keys do not crack. its a great phone for people who like pretty phones.

Do any other S500i owners feel that the way you can see the backlight around the edges of the keys gives it a cheap look? I mean the phone looks fine during the day but at night, it looks cheap due to the backlight showing around the keys. Don't get me wrong I love this phone just annoyed by that fact.
