definetly sony Ericsson 550 is a great phone
discovered by sony Team.some times i needed
extra sloat memory card and this feature is
not in sony550.can u tell me which anti virus
i can use in my sony550.
Lastly i thanks for all sony team member to
give me sony550.

very problems in this cell
for examle
no externel card
big prob is that it is not simbin this is big prob
from simbim point of view its poor
and it is so expensive
its my opinion that NOKIA6600 is better than this cell
its just poor

this phone is really wonderful. you wont know how great it is until you get it. have been using it for about one week. and everything is just as great. CHEERIOS! but i accidentally deleted the game inside the phone. is there anyway i could revive it?

An exellent phone. had it for a while now. holds plenty of songs at pictures etc.... The camera is brilliant and so is the sound quality on the walkman! would reccomend to anyone.

since i dropped my w550, it always restart by itself :(
sucks! the cam also bad quality.
may be i will change it with w810

the hook at the top is the antenna not an accessory lol.many phones have the antenna internally (inside the phone) but this features it externally (outside the phone). still equal quality though.

the two buttons at the top are just for gaming for the "games console experience":P and may i just say they are quite hard to use - probably if you have big thumbs :D.

its a five way dpad and very reliable so no its not a joystick , the swivel action will only get loose if you intend on breaking it and constantly open and close it rapidly and may i just say that as this is a manual swivel phone and not sn automatic spin up one, its harder for the hinges or anything to get loose unlike w900i which is more of a possiblity to get loose.

Could somebody tell me whether is it a Joystick button or other, is it giving problems like the 610 buttons. Does any problem arise out of the swivel function ?

There's one word to describe this one: "feel-good!".. I haven't been using it for a long time(3 weeks) but till now I am absolutely satisfied. I hope I don't fall into software trouble like some of the users in here!
One can understand the pros and cons reading the specifications..But can see better from own experience,,so
-- Very good, shiny screen with cheerfull menu!Very good resolution!
--The phone is really,really fast! (I have 60MB free I don't know if I fill more)
--Best sound I have ever heard
--With an average of 30 mins of talking, 30 mins of gaming, 30 mins of walkman and a couple of hours browsing menu functions and camera, the battery lasts easily for 4 days.In any case the battery seems to be good.
--Nice design (my opinion), uplifting colors
--The camera is indeed not very good-maybe too pixelated-even in good light conditions. But I like the variety of settings for the camera and especially the panoramic shooting.
--easy to use despite having so many buttons.
--the "rubberish" cover feels more classy compared to cheap plastic of any kind..
My opinion is that if this phone had memory card extension--256MB,actual 232MB, is good but limited---it would be a MUST buy cause it is top in almost every other aspect.

I brought this phone last week for £75.99 sim free. It is very good. i think you can do anything with it. My friend Andrew lost his and now he is wishing death upon himself! - It means so much.

Anybody can tell me that how to check GPRS on Sony w550 cellphone? Is it necessary to create internet profile? How to acquire settings from service providers (airtel) to use GPRS??

Hi All,
I am just trying to give some answers of the asked questions, i can't assure u that all my answers will be 100% benificial, but most of them will be......i hope....
(1)In the Standard Package, everybody should get a USB Data Cable coz it is a part of that package (also the driver cd). If there is no USB Cable, just insist to ur local vendors to check the issue properly.
(2)Using USB Cable: First, install the Driver Softwares and other softwares (Particularly for PC Sync and File Transfer must be installed)....and pls do not use the Disc2Fone software coz it has a bad reputation and also not flawless. After installaiton finishes, then if necessary RESART ur PC. Then connect the USB Cable to ur fone's port and then in the computer's front or back panel USB port. WIthin a second, there will b a msg "new hardware found" (WIndows XP) and after a few sconds, a new PHONE DRIVE will be created apart from ur pc's existing hard drive partitions and cd-drive, floppy drive etc. In the meantime, look at the fone, when u connect the fone to ur Pc via USB, the fone restarts and then two options come :PHONE MODE and FILE TRANSFER. Select FILE TRANSFER mode to transfer files (else select PHONE MODE for PC Sync etc.......N.B: When u select FILE TRANSFER mode, all other functionalities of the fone (menu search, call out, call in etc. will be inactive, they are active in PHONE MODE). Next, to transfer files, simply COPY ur audio-video-pictures etc and PASTE them in the PHONE DRIVE. They will be stored in the FILE MANAGER folder of the fone. After completing ur transfers, first click on 'SAFELY REMODVE HARDWARE' in the Taskbar and then select the USB Device and then only remove ur USB Cable from the PC.
***Transfering files (be it audio, video, pics, themes, games etc are very fast).
***Whenever u attach the fone with ur PC (irrespective of the MODES selected, the fone will be charged automatically.
WORD OF CAUTION: To avoid White Screen problem and frequent hang-ups.....
(a)Don't use Disc2Fone Software.
(b)Upgrade ur Firmware version (mine is CXC1250031 R4CB020 000000).
(c)After using USB Cable, detach after completing 'Safely Remove Hardware' task.
(d)Don't transfer too many files at a time and don't fill up all the storage space coz that may cause the fone to behave slowly.
(e)Try 2 use compattible 3rd party staff (audio-video-rt-game-pics)......www.lasyk.com has a vast collection of quakity staff for many SE fones....check the site...
W550i is gorgeous, its rocking!!!

hey every1. i finally got this fone about 2 weeks ago...pity SE discontinued it cus i had heaps of probs tryin to find the W800i as well as this 1. I had the W800i for a couple of weeks b4 returning it and gettin this cus da W800i had heaps of problems. my question is that how do u tranfer applications or games into the fone and also is there a way to get the chinese language onto the fone cus most of da chinese i put on da fone turn out to be squares and its annoying cus den u dun kno which is which

pls tell me how can get "white screen"? my phone got a "white screen" damn, any 1 can tell me maybe problem about download theme from internetand then got virus at the cellphone? using Disk2Phone of cos get "white screen"? transfer mp3 to cellphone? i click oready "SAFE REMOVE" at the tray beside computer time, after i remove it USB my phone hang up and can't off the screen "white screen" pls tell me how can i do now?
