the white screen problem happens in most sony ericsson phones, and w550s are having the most of the cases. the phone hangs up and then restarts with a white screen. there is nothing on the screen. it can be said that a w550 is dead if it has the white screen problem. the software version R4AB048 (the first software of w550) is the most affected. other software versions are somehow not too affected.
to avoid this, please read my past message.

I bought this phone and looks great to me very nice sound and colours but the disadvantages are that why Sony Ericsson doesnt support Symbian applications & why this phone has bad camera i have used Sony K700 and K500 and i think W550s camera is worst then these two......

and i just read an opinion says that we shouldnt use the pc2phone thing to avoid the white screen of death (i've experience it b4)
so is there any other ways to download/transfer songs or pics from my computer to the phone?
and where can i find the software to avoid the white screen of death?
And the final thing is how do i upload my pics to my computer?

hi, i'm going to buy this awsome gadged tomorrow. in my opinion, this is a superb mp3 player, even without earphones (thnx for 3 speakers), bright 252k screen, friendly performance. on the other hand, i maybe agree, that w550i has some failures, very often phrase "white screen death" was heared. but you can solve this problem by updating software or having warranty. however, all phones have their problems:) so, if you want to cool-looking gadget with cool mp3 songs, ok camera, and interesting design, buy w550i!

-you can try replacing the charger.
-this phone works on GSM900/1800/1900 and GPRS networks.
-you can transfer files via usb. please read the user manual. follow the directions carefully. your w550 might be damaged without following the steps in connecting it to the pc.
-you can also transfer files via bluetooth. there is a bluetooth stick (about the size of a flash disk) which can be connected to the pc via usb. here in the phils., the stick costs around PHP 500-800 (USD1=PHP51).
