well my w580i went away for repair after bein out of its 28 day warranty. it has come back with the same fault, the slider feels loose plus the buttons which are the menu keys are scratched as if theyve sprised the front off. the keypad doesnt light up now so i cant see a thing. this isnt sonys fault it went to the store i brought it from online but i am so annoyed that this was my christmas present and now its useless

Does anyone know if the phone requires a specific SIM card? When I tried to put the SIM card from my old phone into this one, the phone displays "no SIM card recognized".

hi plz can any1 tell me if you buy the white w580i will you get white headfones and if you buy the pink w580i will you get pink headfones and the same for the grey and black?

the phone is a cracking little phone in more than one way if your buttons do crack and it is one of the faulty batch then you can do one of 2 things you can eather get in touch with sony customer services 08705237237 in the uk. or if you have got the recipt or you bought if from any carphone warehouse store then you can take it there and they will get it sent away to have the buttons replaced, the good news is at the min sony is picking up the bill for these repairs so taking it in sooner rather than latter is a good plan + if your screen has gone white or it crashes you can do the same. hope this helps a few people

well to be honest this phone is a terrific phone good quality mp3 sounds, i like it but i get fed up of it now so i am goin to sell it to buy the walkman 890

if you wanted to put in mp3 songs that you like and make it as your ringtone. you can try to download "mp3 ringtone maker" software.
edit the mp3 songs from where you want it to start and end. and the size cant be more than 600kb. transfer it to you phone after you save your edition. you try and see if its work. Im working good with that. :)

actually you can make ringtones with thr ogers locked version and that is if you take you song and change it to a wav. format. this also works with alarms and sms alert

i have been using this phone for more than 6 months .. did not face any such problems..
in fact this seems to be much better than all other models..
i would suggest .. tht u take ur frnds phone to the servise centre or get it replaced

my fried had a choice to buy this phone or w850 but she chose this because it is lighter in the end she regretted this phone is really slow and camera is soo horrible that even the w550 camera is better

what??!! how can you set mp3 as ringtones with rogers network???! it doesn't work to all the rogers phones they sell, you must unlock it in order to set it as ringtones.

I am sory i cant comment on how the service provider controls the download etc. But i am certain that you can have a mp3 as a ringtone.

I got my W580 setup on the Rogers network. I've never had a problem using MP3s as ringtones. Bell blocks this option b/c they want you to buy their ringtones, but Rogers doesn't. I just bluetooth my MP3s to my phone and use them as ringtones with no problems. When I was with Bell, this bluetooth option was not available - but with Rogers, I've found it very easy.
Sorry - no idea about the headset color question. I feel the same way about the buttons - they don't feel very sturdy. But I love everything else about the phone though.

After SIX months of use, excessive use, my phone is still in GREAT condition. I am actually ancious for my key pad to crack so I can change the color of my phone. BUT NO CRACKING! NO NO NO Cracked keys.
I think that this IS the best Phone Ever Made, it is simple compared to the over stuffed lackluster features of other cellphone makers. For all the horror stories posted here, I must admit, I feel bad because, I enjoy my W580 way too much! Not only is it a great device but it turns heads constantly... many ppl have commented about bad battery life as well.. i did not face any such prolems yet .. it has good battery back up even after 2 hours of charging.

well I got this phone from overseas, I was really dissappointed though when i realised that it wasn't compatable with mp3 tones:-(. the slide is really shaky and ma butons feels wied like their going to crack. I'm really disappointed :0(

how many times did i tell u that if u get it from rogers (U CANNOT SET MP3 AS RINGTONES).
if u want to do set it as ringtones, go freakin unlock ur phone like i did a few months ago. geeezz. rogers locked it cuz they want u to buy and download music from them now u understand y it doesn't work??!!
