just to those that say u cant put mp3 as ringtone YOU CAN
i have a full length mp3 song as my ringtone and it works fine
if mp3 ringtones dont work on ur phone it may be because
ur phone is locked
ive had this phone for just over a month and im pretty happy with it
my keypays havent cracked (fingers cross) n everything going pretty smooth

Actually, I'm after the durability, style and a PC friendly phone. I want a long-lasting phone and it's just ok if it does not give exceptional sound from the speakers as long as it is NOT that bad.
Are the sliding function and the keys really that BREAKABLE? It is important to consider the keys for me especially since people of our country is a text/SMS fanantic.
So which one is better Nokia 5300 or Sony Ericson w580i?

I think you need to think twice if you are looking for a music phone. First, the 5300 is much cheaper than this. In my country the difference is like £100 less than w580. If you don´t care about the money and want a flashy phone and good quality sound (trough earphones only) buy this one, but if you like a simple design, better quality from the speaker and equal quality trough earphones (but you´ll have to buy another earphones for better sound) go for nokia 5300. In your place, maybe I would wait for the release of 5610. I think it´ll be at the same price range of this w580 with easybreak keypad.

Uhh it is a good phone and i agree that the keypad will break if you are being to rough with the keys. I know this because my friend is a text freak and it happened to him, but I guess it is his fault. And it is true that you can put mp3 as ring tone as long as it is less than 30 seconds. Pretty good phone, and it looks great.

u CAN set mp3 as ringtones IF the LENGTH of your mp3 file is LESS THAN 30 SECS. now if you're trying to set your full-length song mp3, then YES, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO...

camila, if uve sent ur phone a third time to service for the keypad, it's not the keypad that's the problem anymore... it's the way u press the buttons or ur thumb is too heavy...

it seems that regardless of what batch your phone belongs to the keypad will break sooner or later... Guess the only thing to blame is sony for making such a fragile keypad in the first place... my keypad #2,3 and 4 had already cracked in just 3 weeks. You should see how thin the keypad is... so it will definitely break no matter what...

that's right ppl, you cannot set mp3 songs into ringtones. i dont know y but its banned. i have the w580 for rogers and i cannot set any mp3 as ringtones. i gotta go ask rogers and talk about this when i have time.

I had only Sony Ericssons, and I have no complains about it. I also have the W580, and it's really a good phone. You should choose the W580.

Nokia 5300 or Sony Ericson W580i
I've been using Nokia phones for years now and I am somewhat afraid/reluctant to buy a Sony Ericson phone. I don't wanna waste my money. PLEASE HELP ME CHOOSE! thank you... =)

just about to by this phone should come sometime this week... also got a 6gb m2 stick on order for it dnt know if it will work... or if i does will i slow up the phone?? as i used to have a w800i with 4gb pro duo stick worked fine. can anyone help me out on wether its gona work or not.

Is it true that you can not play use mp3 as ringtones and play wma for the AT&T version? Other than that, are there any more modifications they made to the firmware?

I 've been with mu new phone w580 for more than a week and I absolutely love it!! the camera it's awesome and the colors are beautiful !!!

i was so happy when my phone surpassed a month without having any issues but now i have 4 cracked buttons.. they just keep breaking, the buttons on the front are hanging loose and the paint on the front button ish are is completely wearing off. oh did i mention that the slider is getting STIFF? o.O oh gosh .

i bought this phone for more than 1 week now and everything is still really great. keypads are not cracked and (hopefully never) and i just love it! best phone i ever used! the screen is so bright and clear (little bit clearer than k800i) and the camera is only good during day light and you can always adjust the brightness of the camera by pressing the volume up/down for clear pics.

No, it isn't quite at all
. How is the camera?
It's kinda good, but only during the day, because it lacks flash
. Is the walkman player good?
I really like the Walkman player. Especially the Shake Control.
. Are the memory cards really expensive?
Yes, but not very expensive. M2 are almost twice expensive than microSDs, but they aren't something we can't afford.

-the operating system is not slow at all
-the camera is taking good pictures in day light because it lacks flash

-I don't know the price of the memory stick but I think it will be expensive because it has a micro memory stick
