i have the grey model of the phone and im a textaholic so i have only got 1 key that is not broken and that is the *key
but my sister has the white model and texts way more than me and not even one key has cracked so buy the white model

i hae the phone and it was ok for the first month but after that the key cracked the camera blurred the slide was wearing paint and it kept freezing as i was listening to music and the casing at the back was coming off by the battery
if u wish to buy the phone goahea but i would advise you not to

I just ordered one, cannot wait to get it! had the S500i, yeah the keys crack but whatever. They still work!

if u buy real from sony shop u wont crack your keypad

The W580i does have the "Shake to Shuffle" feature but it makes no sense to me. The feature requires you to hold down the "Walkman key" and then shake the phone once and it will shuffle to the next song. My question is...
Why press a button and shake the phone when you could set the player to "Shuffle All" and simply press the "next key" to skip to the next shuffled song in your library without shaking it?
Maybe I am missing something. I don't know...

I took real care of it that after six months of use not even one scratch on my phone BUT all of a sudden I have two cracks in the # 1 and 3 keys. I hardly ever use the keypad to dial because I use the calling list to call people. I love this phone but the keypad is soooo cheaply made. It doesn't take a scientist to see the cheap material it's made of.

It said on this page, that a 512MB memory comes with this phone? How come mine didn't come with it? Did everyone else get a 512MB memory card along with this phone?

Ok. If you want to burst your brain out by listening to a rock music, get this awesome phone. Mega BAss is just soooo MEGA! I cannot quite relate to people complaining about some cracked keys and battery life and camera not working and music player busted... How? How did you use this phone? Did you use your toes in typing SMS? I've been using this phone for a month already and there's nothing to complain about this phone. This phone is sleek and elegant... and it RocKS! Go grab one 'cause there is no other choice but Sony Ericsson Walkman Series. Thanks SE for bringing the best quality of music to cellphones.

We purchased 3 W580I's last Christmas. My daughter has had 2 cracked key replacements in the last 3 months. My phone, the left circular key flew off into my center console (can't find it!)trying to open the phone and they won't cover this. My husband's worked fine - till he lost it! It hasn't been a year and we are not real happy with this model.

ok it was gud at first until like something happened with the 8 button and it like keeps popping 8's onto the screen without me doing anything. its gotten to where i cant even get on the menu or text or anyhtin. total rip off..

Ok, so I finally found out for myself about the key cracking problem. For the last six month -that's how long I've had this phone- I've taken real good care of this phone like I always do with electronics. Not even one scratch on my phone and I don't even use it much and last Sunday I looked at the keypad and I noticed two cracked keys all of a sudden. It was a big disappointemt. I thought if I took care of my phone I wouldn't have this problem but I did. This phone is a beautiful phone and the speaker is really loud and clear when playing music, but the worst thing about it is the keypad. No matter how careful you're with the keys they will eventually start cracking. Sony NEEDS to and SHOULD do something about this problem. It's a shame for this phone.
