You can't flash a firmware with walkman 2.0 version to other phones with a walkman player of version 1.0. It's because version 2.0 is not just a software upgrade, it's got hardware upgrades too. so flashing a version 2 player to a version 1 compatible handset will kill the handset.
Oscar ther's nothing wrong in flashing / upgrading ur phone's firmware.. but do it only with the firmware file provided by sony ericsson. U can use SE's upgrade service to that.

The main upgrade of Walkman player 2.0 is the graphic interface and the ability to display album art. So no big change :| !!!!
to make an upgrade from player 1.0 to 2.0 you must flash ur phone and install a new frimware of an other phone........

I like w610i more because it has FM radio, bigger screen, and better camera than w880i. The former lacks 3G though.

About the Walkman 2.0 :
my friend has a w800 with Walkman 1.0 and when i compared to the one i have, i just notice that only the graphic interface has changed not more, and maybe the option of seeing the album photo when playing.....all the rest are the same not a big change........
About updating to Walkman 2.0, i think u can, but u must flashing ur phone :)

I think the walkman player of w880 is better because it has smaller font size than this one.

Just got in the 4gb SandDisk and the w610i works great with it. No lag. The best music phone on the market! Thank you SE!!! All my fav music is with me now : )

i am now down to choose what unit i am going to buy....i am wondering if which is better...the motorola v6 maxx or w610??coz i can't choose which is the best...tnx..
Sony ericsson all the way, motorola's menus are slower and the reception and volume are better on the SE. Plus SE has more down-loadable stuff, and the fastest java scores, I also think they have the best build quality!

it is 100% safe... it is ez.. i even got s500 everchanging theme too... so nice
btw how long can u guy's battery last?
maybe i played a lot of game.. it drains the battery so much.
and for 1st time charging the battery, how long do we need to charge?? thx

Flashing a phone mean access to its main Frimware, in other word the main software made by SE who controle all ur phone actions and contain the softwares that come with it.
Why Flashing?
we use flashing to modify or adding new stuff to the phone........
for example the reasone that i look on flashing is whow to add flash menu. What's Flash menu? it's a menu created with Adobe Flash that u can use it instant of the standard SE menu....and there is lot's of Flash menu on the Net (belive me it's very cool).
some people use it to modify the main software like : making sound louder, or changing the Frimware of a phone by an other (this operations are very dangerous and if u are not an expert it may easely damage ur phone).
