Hi guys, i am planning to buy new mobile phone. I have two options, one is nokia N79 and other is sony W705. I know these two models are very much similar in all conditions that is preferable to everyone..... But i am very much confused to go for which one of these two models..... I know that sony ericsson is smarter than nokia. But when it comes to performance, nokia is takin the lead. I have compared the specifications. The only down thing for W705 is its camera quality, no GPS support, not a good speaker for a walkman set and additionly its OS .I know this is a walkman set atleast they should try to make some improvement giving dual speakers.... And other thing is that it's OS.... As all of you know that, sony UI is very much straight forward to use, but when it come's to symbian its really rocking. I am feelin, as it is very much user friendly to use nokia. As nokia OS supports both java and symbian, so it will be very nice to use for all applications and softwares for all purpose. And wat i want to tell about nokia N79 is that, its system memory come only upto 83 MB shared memory, and the output will be around 50 mb for usage purpose. One more thing is that nokia N series is not as good as sony walkmans. When its come to music divison no mobile device can every beat sony ericsson walkman series. I know that we can't have everythin to satisfy our needs, i know that at some point we have to compromise on certain things. Let me tell you about my needs. I want to know these things below that i have mentioned for my usage. 1. Whether these mobile give good quality of browsing? 2. Whether there will be any physical damage such like keypad will get broken. As you know, once there has been a model called W550 which use to get a broken keypad after a short while usage. 3. Whether this model has good gaming feature support. I want all of you, who read this message to reply to my question. whether to go for sony W705 or nokia N79. please kindly reply to these question after your experience from this mobile:-) i am waiting for your replies....

its a great phone u know!!i've only bought it about 3 weeks and there's no problem at all..just the shaky slider that annoy me..everything's fine..but may i know how to update the phone??

hi !!
my contract end with smart and there offering me sony w705 with free speaker for me to renew another contract with them. Is this phone really great? Please help me elaborate the good and bad features of this phone before i sign up.

I've seen pics on the web of a w705 that's black and silver: around the screen is black and the rest is silver with a chrome trim and black rubber back cover. The red is the same except change de the silver parts for red. I've also seen on youtube that there's a silver with black that is all silver in the front and black on the back. I own the Silver with gold trim and chocolate back cover. I personaly think mine looks nicer with the gold and brownish back part. It looks really nice. But I guess you should look at them in person. The black and purple one (w715) is an exculsive make and I think looks really nice but I don't have Vodafone here.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970I would def recommend the w705 over the w595. Probably the only things better on the w595 is that they come in more colors (for teens mostly) and it has 2 speakers I think. But this phone has a more classy touch to it. And, besides the wobbly slider, has better build quality. I've read 2 reviews about the w595 and both said that the battery cover cracked when they opened it! Other than that and the fact that the w705 has wifi then they are the same. You should probably compare them in person. Tha camera on the w705 isnt good unless there's enough light, I dont know about the w595. And finally, the battery on the w705 lasts a looong time!

this pHonE is VerY great. i have this one. it's battery lasts longer than any other fonE. when my friends saw it they said it is very beutiful pH0ne. it has many feuture specially it has a wi-fi and shake control. it has a prefect design but it's camera is no longer perfect in dark bec it hasn't xenon flash but when in light it is perfect. Another good in this fone it can count ur steps just activate the Walkmate. it's sound so good like a crystal-claer. in short this phone is a pristine fone. Sony ericson is the best..

The battery cover: it seems very fragile, like if you pull too hard you could break the two pegs at the top when you pull it off, just make sure that when you pull it off you lift it slowly. And the memory card is under the cover too so if you ever need to change it you need to be carefull! And one good thing: the battery lasts a looong time! Mine lasted 2 full days! Left it charging one night and it charged up to 98% then unplugged it in the morning. Used wifi for hours! Talked, txts, pics, music almost all day, got home that night: 53% left!!! Left it on, did the same thing the next day except I only used wifi for 4 hours during the whole day, but at 10:30 pm I had 17% left!!! So yeah the battery is good! If I did that on my iPod I would've had to charge it every 4 hours!

There were two things I noticed when I held it for the first time, it's lightweight and the slider was a little shakey. Thats one good and one bad thing. Later that same day I noticed the camera sucks in low light. In sunny weather and close-up pics with the flash are good. The music volume is kinda low compared to my Nokia 5610 XpressMusic, but it came with a pair of speakers that are really great! And a 4Gb card, video playback looks kinda bad on the display. So do some blacks and dark colors when you look at pics. They come out like with large squares of color?? And thats pretty much it. The looks, the music clarity, its a great phone and has wifi! I have the silver with gold trimming and chocolate back cover and it looks really nice! I'd give it a 9 outta 10!

recently i bought htis w705...early i had w700i tat was awesome sound compare to tat this w705 i very very low. wat to do to increase the volume???????????????????

Sameh, 28 Aug 2009Even when the The Wi-Fi is connected, when I try to search ... moreWell, first off, when you connect to a wifi signal, it needs to say connected and the wifi icon on the phone's screen needs to be green. If you haven't added the wifi connection's WEP key or any other password it requires, then you won't be able to navigate on it. After you've made sure that you are connected (green signal) and it still doesn't connect then you need to take your phone to your phone company and ask them to check the connection settings. If the carrier doesn't allow wifi connections then it probably won't work.

I have a question: I saw an unboxing video after I got mine (I know, should've done it before) but in the review the phone came with a tv connector. Mine came with a pair of awesome speakers, are these accsesories region dependant, or should I have gotten the tv cable?

Even when the The Wi-Fi is connected, when I try to search on the web, it asks me to (add connection) which I think he means network provider internet setting.
So, How can I log into the internet directly when the wi-fi is connected? Any special setting needed?

W705 is a very good looking handset. Very attractive to look at.
But, there are a few problems with the handset. The loudspeaker output is very low. Even phones worth about 8k are louder than it.
Secondly, camera quality is not good. The flash is very poor too. Camera quality of C510 which is worth 10k as opposed to W705 which is worth 16k is much better.
Apart from that, the screen is awesome, menu very user friendly, it has wifi n all. So not a bad deal. But the low sound output from the loud speaker and the poor camera quality in a phone worth 16k are the deal spoilers. I would not recomment people to buy this phone!
