Unfortunately, there's a little chance that this isn't a hardware problem...
battery? USB-microphone interference? all seems hardware issue... but I hope you're right.
The xLoud thing is more likely software-related.

We can all hope that some kind of firmware update would take this problem away from all users. For sony it would be very very big mistake if this is caused some hardware issue. I just can't understand that this kind of problem is out there, this phone was announced early this year and they really had time to test this model.

This is confusing ! so it ... moreWhen I waited my replacement phone it was very clear that this problem was a big problem. After watching many youtube test videos I noticed that almost every video there had that noise and that noise had very differend volume levels on every video. My phone pretty much had the loudest level on that noise. So I really feared that my replacement would have that noise, but propably not as loud as the first. So now I'm very happy that when I put my ear next to the screen, there's no noise audible.
However taking video there really is little noise on background and I still think it is the battery what is making that noise, because phone is draining more power on that state. Same thing still occurs if I do neocore benchmark and while making that benchmark I can hear the buzz noise when I put ear next to the BACK COVER. While chargin phone there is absolutely no noise when making that same benchmark so I am pretty sure that's battery what's making that buzz.

I've to admit that you could help the community with the info concerning the quarantine! Why did they reduced their Mini Pro stock? Can't you ask them, we would really appreciate! I'm not in the UK, because I'd have done this by myself. Based on this info I've started that thread...
Another thing is that the consequenses of this closeness can not be repaired e.g. with inserting an extra insulation??
Thanks for your efforts, anyway... I hope you'll be satisfied with the Mini.

Ok, so the bottom line is this, phones4u Exeter still had stock. I had another replacement which was week 29, and that one was just as bad. In the end carphonewarehouse changed it for the regular mini. A shame, because I miss the front camera for Skype. As a bonus though, the smaller size of the mini makes up a little.
With regards as to why the mini pro makes the sound while video recording, as well as the sound being heard when you put your ear to the back. Seems to be because of the interference between the microphone and the USB port, the two conflict together. The guy took one look at the mini pro and said that the design in his opinion with regards to the port and microphone being so close together was poor design.

Hey Guys, i think i'm going to buy this phone tomorrow, despite all the complaints about the xloud features. But I'm in love with the design of the phone. It's Flawless : )

I have this phone, 7 days have passed and i have readed most of the comments and many of them said that the screen is poor.no buddy screen is aweesome u can see the text,images,video,anything from 179 degree and the quality of screen is awesome.and open your mind+eyes and see who is manufacture of mini pro sony ericsson and plus bravia engine okz............
the problem is-its too heavy cell,and leave the weight the width of this cell is above normal because of slider but i am getting used to it now and enjoying all the features.
and other then all a minor defect i notice was that the cover on the top used for usb and charging is very difficult to open from hand i am using some pin to pop out it.
inspite of this the phone is awesome super fast a good camera but less then wildfire s because my brother own it but hey we have front facing camera....two back cover....hd video recording,nice keys well placed and the lookz killer phone.....

it's a shame that I have to joke on things like this...
I'd exchange my device for yours - XLoud is perfect, but I have the noise ;)

i used wi-fi and 3g both but still in skype i am unable to do video calling yet as no option comes in contact as it has to be like video call only call option comes which means only voice call anybody used skype video call plz reply

This is confusing ! so it seems like the noise is not the same in all sets..
I'm still waiting for a solution and haven't bought the phone yet..
This is the main issue the probable XLoud problem is not important to me since I only use headphones to listen to music.

This second phone has a very little noise when taking 720p video, but the noise is so little that it doesnt bother.
This second phone has also perfect calling quality, so there's no noise on background, like that first one had.
This second phone is manufactured on week 29.

I feel that a further exchange would ... moreIt is not just an inconvenience, it always acts like this, so it can easily turn out that it is harmful considering the lifetime of the device! Until no official clarification, we can not exclude this, too.
One thing we don't agree upon - later replacement. I'm sure they'll, or already have modified the production process or find out sth, so when phones4u restart selling the device, one should call them, ask for identifiers (below the battery: manufacturing date 11WXX, or SI number, etc.) and find a phone that doesn't have the issue;)
The most helpful would be an official clarification, making steps easier to solution (replacement, repairment, or any form of validating the 2-year guarantee).
