That is why boycotting sony and other such unworthy companies is so important.
It's the only defense customers actually have and it is quite simple to use.
Let's not buy anything from companies that use false advertising to increase prices / profits and do not keep their advertised word, nor care about / respect their customers.

Whoever bought this phone should get a compensation fee for having been lied to and victim of false advertising.
being aware of that sony is already preparing their future customers.
Just take a look at their new messages:
"Sony has revealed that the Xperia arc S and Xperia mini pro won't be getting Jelly Bean.
This is coming from John Cooper, UK Product Manager for Sony Mobile, and while he didn’t say anything about other models, they all use the same chipset (with the arc S using an overclocked version). This means it's more than likely that the entire 2011 lineup will be missing out on the Android 4.1 JB fun."
The Xperia Play should have gotten ICS if sony's devs weren't so lazy and incompetent and sony's managers hadn't decided it simply wasn't profitable!
Selling gingerbread phones at their release in 2012 is a bad sign enough.
beware of "upgrading promises".
Thse of us who bought the Play on false promises and official advertisements know what it feels like being betrayed and deceived after spending their money and trusting a unworthy company like these.
worse still: sony has set a precedent that has gone unpunished, so other immoral brands/companiesare going to follow it.

The phone undoubtedly has excellent design.
Most games are much better when played on this device.
However, compared to the other high performance phones, I feel we could have used a little more internal memory than the measly 350MB available.
That is probably the main reason why ICS doesnt run too well on this phone.
Apart from that, it meets all my needs.
I hope there is a PLAY 2; preferably with as much power as a PSP.. :)

no one s buying it any m... moreJellybean has only just come out and you expect every handset realeased to have it. Just because phones are still being released without it does not mean thety are crap.
Samsung are still releasing phones with ics, so are lg, motorola etc.
BTW the Play is not quite dead yet as you can dowload the new Sony Play store for it ;)
Give it a few months and the new update will be anounced
I will say one thing I do not like about Sony Ericsson phone is the build quality.

no one s buying it any m... morethat's because there's still games that have issue when running on ics (there's official statement from sony regarding this matter). if you look at other 2011 xperia devices, all of them have received ics update. so kudos to sony.

Gonna keep it short , no ics is a pain but I don't wan't a barely competent update so sony done the right thing.My problem is that sony has done fuck all with playstation pocket and still has the same 10.games since launch leaving people to.rely on andriod for gaming just a joke!
And really the play needed to be dual core 1.2ghz to have the tech to live up to what it should of been an inspirational gaming phone that made mobile gaming a feasible option, not merely a decent smartphone that is useful for basic emualators.

Kids prefer games = crap !
I am simply stating that the Play is a superb Android/gaming device...as long as you get it cheap enough. Just because they won't update the Play to ICS, does not mean it's the end of the world. The Play runs fine without it !
The Xperia Play would not really benefit from ICS. I had the Xperia Arc S which did not run as smooth on ICS as it did on GB, and that was overclocked to 1.5ghz.
ICS can also eat up more ram.

no one s buying it any more and sony's losses have proven it. they're still releasing android 2.x.x gb phones when there are jellybean updates rolling @ other brands.
in these times, it's actually pretty stupid to buy a sony android unless you get it really cheap.

Abandoned after paying a lot of money for a presumed state of the art phone.
A phone that was meant to change the way we see and play games on phones...
ALL LIES!
Sony abandoned this phone and still keeps releasing Gingerbread phones on the 2nd half of 2012 as if it were normal and promising future updates.
We too were promised future updates.
We too were promised new and better games thanks to ICS.
Sony is unworthy of our money, but still people keep trolling and fanboys keep saying maybe "next time" sony will tell the truth...
Avoid sony phones at all costs.
After I finish paying my contract, I'll be one of the many trying to sell my phone... and losing money on the process.
How can you still buy Gingerbread phones in August 2012 and believe they won't do the same as they did to Xperia Play owners?
How many more times will they trick and deceive consumers?
How longer will consumers keep trusting sony???

...athough, the only saving grace for the xperia play for the time being is the psx emulator (there is a really good one still on google play).
at least until playstation mobile comes to the play...

Gone back to my xperia play after using some newer handsets like the galaxy note. Although I do miss having ics, the play should not be overlooked even if it wont be getting ics. This is a great phone and the playstation controls are great if you are into games.
Better still you can pick this phone up for much less.
You can still get this in phones4u for about £170 unlocked ;)

we feel xperiaplay --badly let down by SONY should be closed chapter now ..so STOP TROLLERS ..GOOGLE has UPDATED UPGRADED with jellybeans 4.1.1 for modern performances EVEN NEXUS S-- older than XPERIAPLAY ..SONY excuses are pathetic ..and SONY has offered not even a word of sympathy to longstanding loyal customers like diret speak x 30yrs sony customer !.. technology keeps moving on despite corporate sleaze greed deceptions excuses ..thank the technicians and scientists and GOD DIVINE LIGHT ..

I just bought my XPlay and this is why. I can now play older games such as Crash Bandicoot or Tekken 3 with no problem of controls. I understand why is everyone upset about ICS, but there are web-sites that optimize games for XPlay. If you have Xplay Search those sites and it I hope it will serve you as a some-what consolation. Yes I also feel tricked, but the damage is done. After all you get, what you get.

Guys if you feel that you've been betrayed. Please stop complaining. I myself is sick and tired of my Arc not getting the ICS yet. We've got more than 7 major choices to choose from. Lets start of.
