Yes, I play HD games without problems or lag...Ofcourse that you get lag on ICS, without root, removed bloatware or any mods...and above all you put inside bunch of apps you dont use. If you fill xperia Z with apps and games (most of them with bad optimization) you will gete lag, crashed apps etc. Ray is not expensive, powerful phone - it is cheap, small, not very powerful phone which can do a lot of stuf without problems or lag - if you are smart and remove bloatware. Ofcourse, poorly optimized apps can not be measure of device quality.
So, just removing bloatware on GB (donwgrade from ICS) will give you performance boost! And keep in mind that it is excellent, small and CHEAP phone! It is not same category as galaxy S3, S4 or xperia Z!

I agree ray is not laggy or slow...
it just depends on the person who is using it and on how much knowledge you know about your phone because even I can make expria Z lag like hell hahaha...
gain more knowledge about your device and try to make the most out of it instead of complaining
i played almost all high end HD games on ray and guess what IT DOSEN'T lag hahaha...
HD Games: MC3,MC4,NFS MW,NOVA3,ShadowGun etc...(all games lagless)

upgraded to ics using pc companion...
used almost 1 month ..after that my contact storage app get crashed...and I cannot browse contact...clicking on it shows " no app to perform this " and at last downgraded.....
guys did anybody face this problem...
is there any other way to solve this other than downgrading.
and pls tell WiFi is working on jb( rooted)...

when my ear touches screen during talking, light becomes off; also sound at ear becomes off. how can i solve this problem?

Ray have 512 mb RAM - but part of it is used (reserved) for system (stability etc.)

It has 300 mb user space because some space is used by system. So 440 mb on Gingerbread is user partition, system is 419 mb partition - rest is I belive cashe partition etc. On GB you can easy root - go on talk.sony mobile there is new one click (ERoot) method, than you can delete cca 80 apps from system and get to use free system space (copy/paste apps to /system/app and dont forget to change permisions later - instructions on xda and talk sony mobile forum)...you can get 250+mb on system and also, you can delete double apps (when updated gmail, google play, you tube - they are doubled because you cant put update in to system if dont have root...
I reccoment flashing v.62 stock rom from xda and root with ERoot, than delete bloatare (cut/paste to sd card for backup if want) with es file exploerer (root access).
Ray have 1 Ghz and run GB and ICS great. It is slow if you dont know how to optimize it and to be moderate with apps - also, there are some bad apps that slow down phone. My Ray on GB is flying - same was on ICS. But performance is better on GB and overall experience.
Heating when using is normal...try some app that record and measure battery stats (temp...), for example battery bot - up to 46C is ok. It is normal to ge cca 41-43C if playing games...it feels a little bit hot. Every android is heating when using, charging.

If I want I can make xperia Z laggy! There is no phone with which you cant get to the limit! Just put one or two apps with bad optimization and here you go!
On xperia Ray (and every other android) you can root and delete bloatware that makes phone laggy and uses space! So you get 550+mb free space - not just 300mb! Deleting apps - free ram! Facebook, google maps, timescape...all that makes phone laggy. If that were quality apps - ok, you need them and they are great - but facebook is uselles. Timescape also. Google maps - use navigation...etc. So choose quality apps - quick pic instead stock galery. Opera mini instead firefox or chrome...etc.
Gingerbread on Ray is better for performance, you get more free ram, more free space with root...it is a little better fit for ray...ICS is also ok. no lag, enough free ram, enough free space - but sometimes it feels like more ram would be better...ICS is made for better hardware. Despite of that - Ray works great, no lag, everything similar to GB - just for example ICS gets video max 12Mbps while GB get video at max 14 Mbps - so no bih difference. If I had put in one word GB vs ICS I would say: it is better fit if you put older OS on newer hardware than if you put new OS in older hardware! But that does not mean that Ray cant run ICS smoothly - I was on GB without root. I updated then on ICS with root - worked great...but was beliving that GB is better - so now I am on stock GB...and they both are great - just little bit different! So try both and decide. Before downgrade to GB you can update with SUS and then make .ftf file of your update files for later flashing (if you want your ICS backup file).
GB, ICS, JB - on every phone can lag if you dont optimize and select your apps smart! Yesterday I get xperia Z shutdown - I was trying over again to open video file saved with lgcamera app on 30 Mbps - Z can go max 22Mbps - so Z crached...file was corrupted or something... Does that mean that I can come here and say how xperia Z is bad, laggy, crashing???

I've Xperia Ray ..... I Am Afraid to upgrade it...... 'Cause I Heard X-Ray Lag On ICS When 2 or 3 Apps Running at The same time.And ...Some Display Blackout Problem.....Is It True???... Should I Upgrade...... Help Me Guys..... Sorry For Bad English....
