Does more recently manufactured Xperia have the upgraded ROM, or does all Xperia need to be upgraded by users themselves after purchased? Isit thos with 08w44 - 08w46 only have crack case problem?

yep people buy nokia s60's because of the high mega pixel camera or 16million colour screen and the brand name. WM is favored by people that need and use the operating system and quality 3rd party software ....camera's etc are very much a secondary issue. Symbian is a bit of a joke but nokia can successfully market virtually anything

Most of the people using nokia's with the symbian os don't even know what an OS is! Symbian is ok but if you want your phone to be a powerful mini computer then your far better using linux,android or windows Mobile.

The panels are what make this phone unique compared to other windows mobile phone. Yet Sony has only made a couple of them. They're really sabotaging themselves that way. If only more third parties would make panels.

iPhone is so successful because Apple has totally ignored mobile operators, that by now were the main customers for phone manufacturers, and instead Apple has focused 100% on needs of end users. Mobile operators were "masters of the universe" and were not only bringing mobile phone manufacturers to the knees (for example: Sharp was forced in Japan by NTT DoCoMo to hide their brand under the battery) but also were simply forcing manufacturers to cancel some phones with useful features. manufacturers were dividing customers into segments and then these manufacturers were trying to release phones that address particular segment - instead of having holistic approach. after several years of claiming the contrary, that in reality Nokia has no idea at all about making software - the most important part of contemporary smartphones. He also reveals that even Nokia (that owns Symbian), itself admits that the only Symbian enthusiasts are those paid (bribed) by Nokia. Nokia even said literally: "Pretty much the only community around [Symbian] S60 is the community we pay to be there". In other words: not only Windows Mobile ecosystem is dwindling but the ecosystem of Symbian is practically dead.

ATT the largest US provider announced months ago not to carry any ! phone with WinMo!
SE switched to Symbian - see Idou!
WinMo is a total failure.
and for some reason X1 is having more problems to run WinMo than other models.
but, if you like it - stick with it! :)))

X1 has some serious problems with call drops / reception problems.

Try to read vodafone forum, they make it like that on purpose. TO GET YOUR MONEY. the only way to avoid this is by debranding your xperia. search that in xda-developers forum if you want to debrand it. However, please be aware that it will void your warranty.

You can't even compare it.
Nokia 5800 is all plastic and a symbian full touchscreen.
X1 is metal, windows mobile and comes with a full qwerty keyboard.
