JK, 21 Mar 2009Buying a SE smartphone/pda based phones are quite dangerous... morethey dont want to hurry because SE is waiting for WM 7 and Android and they will be the only OS which SE will use.
I just cant wait to see SE X2 with WM 7. that will be the best phone ever. But I must say that X1 was the best phone of 2008

Buying a SE smartphone/pda based phones are quite dangerous. they do not have a clear roadmap as to where they're heading. They started with Symbian UIQ, then went on to WinMo and now heading to Symbian Open Source Platform. This means sw support and apps are becoming very shortlived. I thought they should have continued with WinMo 6.5. Anyway, i don't think Sony liked the idea of going with WinMo since they are competitors with Microsoft on the X-Box and PS.
Also heard rumours that Sony is planning to break up with Ericsson. Idou is clearly a Sony invention ... seems like they didn't like the approach of asking HTC to design their phones.
Personally, X1 is a great business device but not a multimedia one. Camera and sound quality (output though phone speakers) are a complete wash out. I'd certainly recommend the HTC Touch HD or Omnia (if you're on a tight budget).
If you're happy to go with Symbian, try Nokia 5800XM or wait for the N97 or Samsung Omnia HD.

If your going to be critical then at least try and make a decent attempt. Your saying the winmo experience offers eyecandy?!Symbian apps n general usage is far more graphic. however symbian is a developers nightmare and the 3rd party apps are lacking in functionality. WM is a pleb killer, get it if you know computers.

im using winmo for 1yr & i dont like it really. not user friendly at all. along with that its bit slow all the times. symbian has all the same functionalities & it is much more user friendly. so im goin back to it. ill b happy if SE uses symbian for their next phone. winmo can offer only eyecandies & nothing else.

The Xperia X1 panel development community is pretty small, but they do produce things that’s are quite stunning.
The Xperia Growing Panel is one such example. The software, which is an animated display of a garden, is nice all by itself, featuring flowers growing, bees buzzing and butterflies flying about, but more interesting is the fact that all these creatures are tied into some feature or functionality of your phone.
As MSalmank on the Xperiancers blog explains:
As expected the clock at the top-left corner of the panel brings the time & date settings screen. It is the flowers and plants that actually represent different stuff. For instance the middle flower in the screen shot below represents e-mail. When a bud, you have no mail… but when blossomed, you have mail. Not only that, the flowers differ depending on time as well as when the panel is switched. The flower to the right (red bud in the screen shots) represents phone calls. I didn’t have a second phone near me otherwise would have given myself a missed call to see it in action. The flower on the left (yellow one) is SMS. The plant with the purple flowers (right side of the screen) is for phone profiles and the single stem with leaves on the left is for battery. Note in the screen shot below that when I attached the phone to my laptop and started charging the device, the bottom of the battery plant lit up… white sparks rise from the light and travel upwards fading half-way across the plant.
At the bottom of the screen are really small plants – sort of like grass – with white tips. These are hooked with Wi-Fi. When Wi-Fi is turned on and connected to, flowers grow there. The stronger the strength of the signal, the more flowers there will be. Additionally, when you have a meeting in the calendar a butterfly appears on the panel – reported to fly higher when meeting is closer. The mushroom on the screen represents Bluetooth – when activated the mushroom evolves and turns blue.
The phone profile plant wilts its flowers based on volume of the device and chosen profile (for me it only updates/changes the top two flowers). the Battery plant turns from brown to green starting from the top – the more the plant turns green, battery percentage is as less.
I am sure the software has even more features. The animation changes between day and night and even features weather.
To get the Growing Panel for your Xperia download it from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3364286&postcount=2You will need to get both the GrowingPanel and X1 FlashLite cabs. Both can be found on the afore mentioned post. Cool Stuff

Ok SE m0r0ns in case you havent heard the latest...Oooops I forgot...it must be wrong ? the xperia is such a HOT phone...hahahahah
Why are Japan's Sony and Sweden's Ericsson still together? On Friday, their mobile-phone joint venture warned of yet another quarterly loss, in the range of $475.6 to $543.6 million, on the back of some pretty dismal quarterly unit sales.
