Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970i am not i winmo fan, i prefer linux, but it sucks on mobile.
Let me tell you what i use my phone for and i will tell for all these feture how thez ar avaulable on iPhone, Symbian, WM:
---Phoning:all
---Music:all
---Browsing:WM and iPhone rock, Symbian suky browser...
---Messenger:wm rocks, Symbian almost working good, a few bugs on my nokia, like sound going of even if you have windows open, iPhone - well you can join and chat, but if you open any other application you will be signed out, what a joke...
---Background profile changer:WM,Symbiand both OK, wm more customizable, iPhone, can't have background applications...
---remote desktop:well here are prety same, except symbian without toutch is a little harder
---qwerty:well i have to have qwerty, just how i use messenger 24/7 and all, no iPhone with qwerty:)
---everything changable/hackable:only WM:)
---networking:wm perfect, like laptop, Symbian have smthing half functional called SymSMB, well iPhone maybe can have network application so you see file, but no real network, as it has no background applications, and therefore can't stay connected
---multitasking:well prety much covered before, only iPhone hasn't gor it, couse only one application can be open...- that is what make iPhone phone, and not smarthphone. Can't even open google maps to look for street name, than google abaut that street or smth and go back to google maps, as every application is closing in between... I call that sucky phone sry, ca't live with that, even 50 nokia has that... This is one of main reasons not going for iPhone, strange how people who are againt iPhone don't even know this is the main downfall...
Only Windows Mobile is replecement for laptop, no other OS.
It is however truu many don't need al that functions, but just stop calling wm bad OS, couse you dont need it and can have iPhone with lesser functions and better looking interface.
Though if i was one of you, not needing these thing i would buy LG viewty, has everything iPhone does, even the looks+real camera(like the one you buy seperatly)- it costs 250 or less:) and it is not the only one. This is how much iPhone is worth, now whine why you spend so much money...

WM has developed a lot over the years. For a start WM6.1 is very stable and has loads of options etc..
All Apple, Google and Palm(hopefully) have done is improve the UI and make it appear user friendly and fun to use, and easier. However, SPB Mobile Shell programs and others fill this gap perfectly in WM. Not the ideal solution but it is a solution
If WM had an easier UI and settings it would be superb. Whilst finger and touch this is great eye candy, it doesnt mean that this is best.
Its using the best parts of each to create a fast, friendly and fun device that is functional.
I use a Samsung Omnia, I love it . I have a custom rom etc.... However, my Xperia X1 is far more practical, significantly faster in many ways but I prefer the fun factor of the Omnia. Practicallity vs Function vs UI??

It would be nice when SE would release non-touch,A200,2.6 inch screen phone in this form-factor(without front keyboard),walkman phone which specs sheet would be similar to w595,only with WiFi
A lot of people would go for it!!!!!

Symbian 3rd party apps are a complete joke. Symbians are phones, WM devices are handheld computers

That's true. WinMo is a pleb killer! The whole OS is pretty open, very flexible indeed. With Symbian phones your stuck with what you've got with no opportunity to fix the faults in the firmware.

Anonymous, 23 Jan 2009Guys, I need your help...im not a business man, but i love ... moreYes, you are not a business man :9
The phone is already out for a while , but you say you have been waiting long. :)
And you still want to wait another 2 months?
Please get it, but not in march I suggest July.
By that time it will be totally outdated.
Are you hesitant? Why?
There are about 10000 messages here - not enough for you?
Thousands say X1 is the best ever and never be better and thousands say X1 is buggy, unreliable and slow.
So your request to have a few more post really makes sense.

Get a Windows Mobile device if you are computer literate otherwise choose a simpler mobile. If your not into advanced computing WM will probably baffle you and you'll never get the best out of the OS.

Hi Direwolf, nice to know that I could be of some help.
Hi U, glad you decided on getting an X1. It's probably not the "perfect" phone, it's surely one of the best out there today. I'm sure u'll be very happy with it.
I'm a Mac person (switched about a year back, and very happy I did). So the iPhone would have been the natural choice for me. If only it had a proper keyboard! Maybe in a few years time Apple might decide to introduce an iPhone-Keys :-)
Anyway, there is something that I experienced today, and I thought I'll share with you all.
Everyone is aware that mobiles phones today are complex gadgets (unlike the Nokia 8210 that I had about 8 years ago). And these phones can crash (that was the reason I was asking people how to backup the whole phone with ActiveSync). And it's not only the Winmo ones… My K800i crashed once but I could recover the phone at least with the XS++ software. My previous phone - P1i - with Symbian UIQ3 crashed a couple of times, I kept taking regular backups using the SE SmartPhone Suite and restored it whenever the phone crashed or I did a firmware upgrade. So all was fine.
But for the X1, as many people found, ActiveSync 4.5 does not give an option to backup/restore like the previous versions of A/S used to. So I too was looking around for options. Found that A/S 4.5 does support backup/restore but for devices before Winmo5. Apparently all devices with Winmo5 and 6 have non-volatile memory for storing apps/contacts/etc. So Microsoft thought that this backup/restore was not required anymore for these ones. If we plug in a device with an older Windows Mobile/PocketPC version, that option should still be there.
Anyway, this morning I took out my X1's battery to check this "production week" that supposedly has something to do with the X1's case cracking around the stylus. But when I tried to boot my phone after that, it would just get the date&time line on Today screen and hang there. Nothing would work after that. No touchscreen, no buttons, not even the power button. Removed and reinserted the battery and booted the phone a few more times. But still the same.
Then started reading some forums, and somewhere someone suggested that it would reboot fine if the microSD card was removed (and that the card could be reinserted later). Tried that and it worked. And luckily all programs and data were intact. So that's the tip for anyone in a similar unfortunate situation.
I then thought it would be a good idea to keep a backup of the device just in case something went wrong. Found a page on Microsoft website talking about the ActiveSync issue, and also mentioned SPB Backup. On Handango, which I use, there are loads of reviews for this product, and mostly all 5-stars. So immediately got that, and installed. And backed up my phone. It's a decent software I thought, with some pretty good features. And it could prove to be a lifesaver some day (especially knowing smartphones can be a little unreliable sometimes).
Hope this post helps some of you X1 owners.

Win Mo is not complicated!
WinMo 6.1 and 6.5 just unreliable, buggy!
But for some reason the X1 is just even much worst than other WinMo phones.
Customers complain much less and if you take the time you can also experience the difference - X1 has some sort of design fault - I guess that is the reason for the long delay!

Anonymous, 23 Jan 2009Reception problems:
we suppose to hack ? :)))
SE X1rele... moreone more who has issues with windows, too comliccate3d for you i gues.
And also abaut cracks, all who had them(i use past cause new models dn0t have that error) can change tham for new ones, just take it to servis...
Shame Sony didn0t release two versions, one with windows mobile for users like me, and anpother with symbian or vustom os for users, that want it simple, though at the down of functionality.
