    Anonymous, 12 Dec 2008cnet review xperia rating 7 , n71 8.9 (editors choice) N... moreIt is pretty bad when C.NET puts down a phone - 7!!!!

Especially Cha - anything good for her. Total PR rep personality without any reasoning or tech background.

So, obviously it is not a choice of any .. not even c.net - not supriced.

it is reported that X1 is practically canceled at least for a while.

I think SE should just skip this model and release x2 or X5 or Hikaru - what ever but X1.

Anonymous, 12 Dec 2008finally! this is my whole week with experia! :D im so happy... moreYou said it is a must for business - what business you do on it?

I was unable to do any business -it was slow, buggy and unreliable.

For many thing the screen is just too small.
The icon as you have said are small.
The touch screen sensitivity is inconsistent.

As far as software compability - you mentioned - absolutely joke!
X1 has a non-standard resolution! It is not compatible with many software.

Your opinion sounds like a PR b.s. - it does not reflect any actual usage.

For business I think people needs to use tablet PC.
X1 certainly will not do in my opinion.

We should not forget the reception and Wifi problems.

The best you can do is too send a few text messages.
I do not call that business.

and i would just like to add that i dont experience the problems that the guys below are saying.

I was also hesitant to buy the experia at first because of some negative reviews. But in those reviews however, they acknowledge that they were using a post-release or beta versions, meaning its not a final version yet. Thats why im so relieved to find out that my X1 doesnt have those problems at all.

finally! this is my whole week with experia! :D im so happy i bought it.

the panels are amazing! its basically like having different user settings on PC.

the features are outstanding, definetly a must for business! it really is like having a miniature laptop. there are a lot of cracked softwares for wm

as regards WM itself. The panels helps the experia to be a touch friendly device, but in some advance settings, the icons become small that if u have big fingers u most certainly need stylus. I think thats the reason why others dont like it. as for me, im fine with it

Anonymous, 12 Dec 2008cnet review xperia rating 7 , n71 8.9 (editors choice) N... moreComparing it to n91 is just stupid, but yeah i checked into cnets review, indeed it is rated 7.0. The reviewer found windows mobile to be a big problem, as it provides a crappy interface. Say what you want, but if this phone ran on a different OS, it definitley would have put up some series competition.

...Its an awsome multimedia machine. Videos look amazing on the the high-res display, and one of the pre-installed panels is the handy Sony Ericsson “walkman music player” menu.

How about the morons that still talk about the WM 65K display! Classic.

The camera was better than I expected. The photos I have taken show good colour and focus, and even photos at night turned out well — the LED managed to illuminate subjects only within about two metres of the lens though.

The 520MHz processor & massive 256MB RAM for the most part is sufficient. Executing Java apps and opening menus is pretty fast, and launching other programs, like Opera Mobile, requires only a few seconds of loading time.

                    Boom!

be smart, read unbiased reviews from reputable sites like cnet.uk

The Xperia X1 is Sony Ericsson's most ambitious phone to date boasting a plethora of features. Unfortunately, while it looks beautiful it doesn't work as well as we expected. Part of the problem is that Windows Mobile still isn't a consumer friendly OS -- it's just too fiddly

I was one of those who had to wait for a while to get my xperia. It is fun to use and much faster than my touch cruise. It is more powerful than cruise and it does help by injecting some colour& fun into a rather drab o/s.Solid smartfone.

We finally got real hands on the Xperia X1 (we're done putting “Xperia” in caps, btw). Let us tell you - the hardware is simply top notch. It's a decent weight, not too heavy, and feels remarkably thin for all the power they've got under the hood. Sony Ericsson also made a good decision by making this phone not feel too “wide”, it's less wide than a BlackJack II, in fact. Overall this might be the best hardware I've ever seen on a Windows Mobile device.

...and those thoughts are just the start of it. After the break, our first impressions of the Xperia X1's hardware, details on the development and innards of the X1 from our chat with Martin Winkler, Director of Global Marketing for Sony Ericsson, and full gallery of hands-on photos.

                                How about the screen chaps…

The touchscreen has a WVGA resolution (800x480) which is 2.5 times higher than that of the iPhone 3G. This is out of this world for watching videos, but it does fill the screen with really tiny characters.

Definitely recommend downloading the free Facebook panel and free Spb Shell – both are excellent. The Spb Panel acts exactly like the one the company designed for all Windows Mobile handsets, and the Facebook Panel is as good as any application on the iPhone 3G. Ooosh.

Love the arc slider, it slips fluidly on its rails with a satisfying snap when opened or closed. The four-row QWERTY keyboard is excellent. This is my first phone with a keyboard, but its easy to use, even at night, with the bright backlighting and spaced buttons.

I noticed it dedicates buttons to common punctuation, saving you from having to dip into symbol menus to find an "@" symbol for email addresses, etc.
