V, 29 Nov 2008LOL...
Except that most people who have the slightest in... moreThe keyboard looks great with its tone on tone-aluminum optics from extremely noble. The underground is actually made of metal, the keys themselves are made of plastic I will concede they are also somewhat slippery. The Nokia E71, and especially the BlackBerry Bold make it better, because their keys are more contoured and almost sharp printers.
The keyboard of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is very good because the size of the individual keys and spacing agree with each other. Moreover, the arrangement of the angled keyboard and display is ideal while typing in hand.

Except that most people who have the slightest interest in the SE X1 would know by now that it's made by HTC.
Regarding TF3D...The XDA community is vast and helpful and there are numerous ROMs available to suit anyone's taste.
Except possibly for the battery life, your remaining arguments are poor.
The TP has a slight problem with the left D Pad control. But the physical keypad on the X1 is rubbish. The TP has the best QWERTY keypad on the market.
All in all, your comparison is baseless and you probably made it all up.
But, having had SE for a while now, I really wish O2 would have released it. Since they have yet to do so, I went for the TP.

there are indentations on both side of the phone near to SE logo, squeeze your finger nails underneath it. That should release the back cover.

Having been accused of being biased against the Xperia X1, I thought I better try and balance the books a bit and note explicitly the areas where I think the Xperia is clearly ahead. These areas may in fact be the deal makers and deal breakers when it comes to choosing between the two.
Firstly, the hand feel of the Xperia is definitely better, due to the slimmer, thinner and lighter design which is more reminiscent of a candybar phone than the slightly more blocky Touch Pro.
Secondly, the all metal construction of the Xperia does speak more to quality than the all plastic construction of the Touch Pro.
800×480 at 3 inches clearly beats 640×480 at 2.8 inches, even if the software does not always take advantage of it.
The Xperia’s 3.5 mm headphone jack also clearly beats whatever the Touch Pro has to offer.
Buttons - again the Xperia has a plethora of them, including a camera button which makes taking a picture 3 times faster on the Xperia than on the Touch Pro.
Lets not forget the Xperia does VGA video recording while the Touch Pro only does piddling QVGA.
Phone reception - its close, but the Xperia is better at holding on to a signal than the Touch Pro.
Phone sound quality - the earphone is louder and clearer on the Xperia and the Touch Pro, with none of the “sweet spot” nonsense of the Touch Pro.
WIFI reception is definitely much better on the Xperia, with much better range than the Touch Pro.
Battery life - I think is good on both, but the Xperia has more mAh, and does seem to last longer than the Touch Pro.
More open development environment for their skins - Touchflo3D has no SDK (and badly needs it) while Panels, while it has less community support, is actually an open platform which anyone can develop for.
The last advantage the SE Xperia has over the HTC Touch Pro is in those two little letters - SE. Sony Ericsson is an established brand name, and when some-one sees the Xperia and see the little Sony Ericsson logo the device suddenly seems more familiar, accessible and desirable, and people who would not touch a Windows Mobile smartphone suddenly sees something they can actually work with.

I have experienced the problem of poor reception, dropping calls, and Wifi.
and unfortunately I am not alone:
˝First day of real use in London has shown the reception to be very poor - on the train into London it dropped out most of the way (My S620 always has a good signal, my Athena usually an H but at least a G or E). Now in Lonon the number of bars is 1 - 2 most of the time and the data reception for a download / web page very slow. ˝

Hi...Im from Malaysia.Xperia X1 users for about 3 days.low yat plaza at RM3,030, silver colour.
Overall performance...on par with HTC touch pro.But with great design n quality build.
Speaker Quality - Very bad ( shocked!)...(but iphone & HTC is bad too...so no need to worry guys)
Cons - no auto rotate sensor(weird!)
- even video recording at 30fps, but the quality is very bad (but i like record video in wide screen mode in x1)
- one more thing, base on spec sheet '3.0 inch',but the actual size is very small due too 480x800 res.so u will see that HTC touch pro screen is better than X1.but u will enjoy watching wide screen movie in this device...cool!
Conclusion : hmmmm.......i expect more from xperia X1 but a lil bit dissapointment.but i think xperia is a cute n handsome gadget off all. But, when HTC touch HD arrive in Malaysia...hehehehee....sendiri mau ingat...
