Apparently the European release has been held back so not to compete with sonys own recently released c905. Phones 4u are the only website i have seen it on so far and on Vodafone contract only. It should be out in time for Xmas though, with other service providers. I'm eagerly awaiting a GSM arena review.

˝I had this phone for a week, its a waste of money. I consider this phone like a toy. The only thing that I like for this phone is the graphics the icon which is very attractive. But for smart phone is not, I'm not
trying to disapoint you out there. Don't take my word for it, you can try it yourself, make sure when you try it ask if there is a restocking fee, especially when you buy it online.¨

phone collector, 22 Nov 2008here is a great review of this stud http://pocketnow.com/i... moreYou need to be better than that.

This review was written by a kid. A business student or fresh graduate.

There are several credible reviews out there all say the same:

                X1 is:
                - slow,
                - buggy
                etc.

But no need to rely on reviews.

The phone is available and anybody can try is.

Takes a few hours and you will see:
                - reception is weak
                - volume is low
                - wifi drop-outs common

You do not need to believe me :) or all the other users who flooded the net with complaints

                Go and see it yourself!

                BTW:
Sales are low, price is dropping fast

                Hikaru is out soon!

                X1 is dead!

So glad i returned my bold for this one.
Design is perfect, battery lasts forever, tons of features,so easy to use which is big plus for phones like this. I needed a phone for business so i thought i should stay with blackberry, but push e-mail option that u get with x1 makes no differences in receiving your personal e-mails or blackberry enterprise which i was not able to set up ,because customer service from T-mobile USA told me 9000 bold is not their phone, and they're not able to send me a service book..
Thumbs up for Sonny .. They did a great job with this unit...

i currently own a x1. i thought it would be rather slow from what people have posted here on gsm'arena..
but i'm pleased to say that they're all wrong.
i've had the phone for a week and it works flawlessly.
..i even dropped it like 3 feet on marble, and it still works marvelously.
i'm glad i didn't change my mind on buying this.
haters buzz off. u just don't want anyone else to have it cause u can't afford it. tsk2. it's just sad.

I may sound a little harsh but somehow, having used an htc phone with Win Mobile 6, and I just have to say, WMobile is not really designed to be used for phone, more a pda, plus an additional phone function. It's pda function is unbeatable but the phone function, just can't compare with a plain mobile phone. Companies keep pumping up the hardware spec but I wonder how much improvement that would do to the over-all performance. To me, the phone function is vital compare to the pda function, so I am considering changing to a phone with additional pda function, not other way around, feel free to disagree. Cheers

1st of all, Shane, nicely said. And more importantly, you backed it up. If people read the posts by Anonymous from mstL, all the posts are repeats. I have a feeling it's a spambot, or someone with a clipboard to copy/paste from. Prob'ly being paid by a rival company, or perhaps by SE themselves to stir up conversation. I know that's happened in the past, on certain video game forums. Not sure about here though...

I find it amusing that so many people here are posting about reviews without posting links.
                                      http://www.pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=reviews&id=1107
Take a look at that link. I played with an Xperia for the weekend and gave it a really good once-over. I also played with a HTC Fuze. The Xperia was faster, had better transitions and did not lock up on me once - the Fuze had a couple of issues and was slower during transitions. There were a couple of things I liked better about the Fuze - the keyboard is easier to use and the screen having a "flush" face makes it easier to use scroll sliders and that annoying "ok" button on the top.

                                      Xperia Pros:
This phone was fast. Anyone saying it wasn't I think has insane expectations, because I have used other WinMo phones and this thing left them in the dust - and that includes the Fuze (maybe they were using a prototype?)
The 800x480 screen is beautiful and renders well in all the lighting situations I was in. The Fuze has a glass front and has issues with glare in direct sunlight.
The 3.5 audio jack is too rare among phones like this, I loved it!
Battery Life: With normal usage I went all weekend without a charge. What more could you want?!

                                      Xperia Cons:
The screen is recessed, which is a trade off with the Fuze.
The keyboard felt cramped and the keys were a little too difficult to depress.
The "OK" button counter-intuitivly seemed to work as a "Back" button instead. That took a while to figure out and was very annoying.
The optical joystick is alternatively too sensitive and not sensitive enough... clicking down straight on it would sometimes cause the selected option to change (so you THINK you are clicking ok, but you click cancel).
Windows Live did not contain any Traffic/Movies/Gas prices ... which I loved on my Shadow (and the Fuze has). This may be because I had an X1i (the Europe version).

Neither phone works on T-Mobile... which sucks for me.

In the end, I think the biggest issue with the X1 is the price. If you combined all the best elements of the HTC Touch Pro and the X1... then it would be worth the price.

Please, if you are going to make statements about this phone do it from actually having used/worked with the phone and not from what spec sheets say. If you quote a review provide a link.
