Anonymous, 17 Nov 2008Se fanboys try to keep up the image - but too many problems... moreYeah, the X1 is a complete and utter failure. And it's because the phone is so shoddy that it's the highest rated phone on GSM arena. It's sold out everywhere because the phone is so terrible.
And Feb 2008 to Oct 2008 is 8 months. Now I'm not sure what kinda wierd calendar you use, but for the rest of us, a year is 12 months. Now, unless I can't count, 8 months is quite clearly less than a year. When SE announced the phone, they told us it would be out approx 3rd quarter 2008, which ended at the end of September. The phone was released at the end of October, now the last time I checked that was a few weeks. Meaning the phone was only a few weeks late. I'm not sure where you're getting this nonsense about a year, but it's quite obviously a load of rubbish - the numbers speak for themselves.
Now, let's wait about a month and when the firmware updates stabilise the phone (remembering of course, that there are loads of people who are having absolutely no problems with it) we'll see just how much of a reprobate you really are...

I must just say that this phone IS A MUST for any network admin.
I have successfully setup a ad-hoc wireless network to my laptop and bridged the lan to it so I can VNC any of the 15+ computers on my network at the tap of the screen. Added bonus is the internet connection is also bridged :p
This phone is a pleb killer, get it if you know computers. Otherwise if you struggle with advanced computing then you are going to be baffled by windows M... hence the bizarre feedback here

Yes, it is more than a year late! Outdated! It was out dated when it was announced.
HTC is not that great as far as quality. Obviously they focus on their HD instead of making great X1s.
There are hundreds of messages about the X1 slow performance and buggy software.
Expectations are different, I do not tolerate lousy and unreliable performance for 100USD!!!!! May be you do!
X1 sold out? :)))))
Yes, that is the reason the priced dropped over 20% in two weeks. We all know when the demand is high and the supply is low it drives DOWN the price. :)))))))

Also, mine does auto-rotate. A comment below suggests that it doesn't but mine has always done so.

I find that sometimes it's a bit slow, the menus get a little stuck and i have to be a bit patient with it. Not sure I'm convinced, although it's certainly an impressive little gadget and looks much better than i expected.

- No auto rotate( i.e doesn't rotate when you tilt the phone)
