Soemone asked me before:
If all the problems are true how come the rate is so high for this phone on this website?
Well, I thought SE PR staff and fans the responsible.
Now, someone noted (few comments below) votes 5 below not counted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That makes the voting result totally INVALID and FAKE!
Obviously, users with problem will not give 5 or more and they are totally counted out from the result.
Another example(itf it is true) how corporates manipulate the customers.

BTW, in my family we use WM for long time, and we still use an old device without ANY crash!
I am not a big fan of WM but it can be reliable even in a HP device (very old and used daily)- which not famous about its reliable units. :))))

As I have written before: we do not need pro-review since the model is out - we can try the unit ourself and see the other users´ review.
But, at least this review do not cover-up the problem:
CRASHES - several Crash on one day!!!!!!!!
(as many of us experienced - this problem was not fixed!)
I think it is not acceptable!!!!!!!

The issues
Battery life on the Xperia X1 is just average — you can get about a day and a half if you don’t use WiFi at all.
If you do a little surfing via WiFi for an hour or two, however, expect to have to charge the X1 at the end of the day.
We also experienced a few problems with our review unit, as the X1 would crash a few times during the day, and the problems persisted even after we hard reset the device and started from scratch.
To be fair, a little sticker on the side of the X1’s packaging indicated that the device is a “trial unit /prototype” so perhaps the stability problems were due to firmware that’s not fully baked yet.

Conclusion
In terms of size and shape, the Xperia X1 is really not bad at all.
Unfortunately, the thing that really lets down the X1 seems to be the Windows Mobile operating system itself, as Sony Ericsson just doesn’t go far enough with its customisations to minimise the problems with the operating system.
My verdict? The hardware is nice, but for the price, Sony Ericsson really needs to look at where HTC is now with its latest Touch handhelds and really bring the X1 up to speed both in terms of performance and cost.
Pros: Nice design; fits well in the hand; beautiful high-resolution screen.
Cons: Interface still needs work; stability issues; thumb keyboard too flat and closely spaced.

Anonymous, 18 Nov 2008For a moment I thought you are a SE staff who tries to trol... moreWhile each phone has its good and bad points, I think its really easy to see which commenters just do not like Windows and the Xperia.
People “count” features so they know which is better…. well, I say it's the implementation of these features. This is where the Xperia excels(VGA camcording with a screen to compliment etc)
Windows mobile is not broken or slow just because a user dosen't know how to use it . Windows mobile has way more functionality than other operating systems. If you are going to compare the Xperia to other devices you must compare all parts not just the bad ones from this phone and the good ones from the others. I could go on and on but I'll leave that to you!!!

Revenant, 17 Nov 2008You're right - I got too personal and for that I apologize.... moreFor a moment I thought you are a SE staff who tries to troll. It had happened before, But since you have showed self critic It seems you are a real user.
So, I explain my views again.
I meant ´late´in a sense that it is not for the current market needs. For 2009, I think the slim, fast phones wanted.
X1 is relatively thick, unreliable, and the camera capabilities are limited.
Late means this phone on todayś market has no ahhh effect and certainly not for 2009.
Reliability:
Personal experience not always reflects the whole picture.
You may got a good working model, but too manyusers got the same or similar problems. For example the battery drainage. On paper the battery seems fine, it should provide excellent performance.
But, it does not. I suspect some manufacturing problem or design error. Someone mentioned RAM problems.
Wifi drop-outs are very common.
When the hardcore SE fans say buggy software is fine for a new model - it raises the flag for me.
I think we should not tolerate any buggy software for 1200 USD - initial price for the X1!
I think the cutting edge phones are slim, with good camera specs, with large screen, and probably TV (digital) capabilities also expected from the users.
I think for the mass the keypad is not needed.
No wonder that Hikaru is like HTC HD, Omnia, or Iphone like.
If we look back, the big hits: V3 , Iphone etc. were all not just relatively reliable but also very compact compare to their competition.
X1 not offer anything special, even the HTC HD is more attractive for many people with its largedr screen etc.
Samsung Omnia with its price and over all performance also a big competition. X1 has hard time to compete with 2008 models - so it is late! X1 would have been fine for the 2007/2008 market if it would have been reliable.
I think for 2009, X1 has no chance.
And if Motorola or Iphone (or Samsung) comes out something outstanding SE will be out for not for 1 but for 2 years. And any of the company can do that as we know.

Anonymous, 17 Nov 2008You making a personal attack! You have no argument! :))) ... moreDon't you people know Megapixels is just a marketing tool?On an average 6 x 4 print you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between 5MP and 20MP.Any photography enthusiast will tell you the lens and sensor are the most vital components on a camera.Of coarse if you want to print photo's the size of Billboards then your going to need a 10MP cam but for regular snaps 3.2MP is sufficient. Please research before posting nonsense such as 'should have 8MP camera'

Anonymous, 17 Nov 2008You making a personal attack! You have no argument! :)))
... moreYou're right - I got too personal and for that I apologize. However, I still can't see where you're coming from. Whether the specs were outdated or not, that doesn't mean that the phone was late.
As for reliability, I guess that all comes down to individual experience. Me, personally, I've never had a problem with SE's phones. Well, except that time when my W960's touch screen went a bit squiffy, but a software update fixed that. I've used Samsungs and Motorolas and, while I never had any reliability issues, I couldn't stand the UIs. I then used Nokias for years, but everyone of them died within a year of purchase. So I decided to try something new and SE have done it for me ever since.
I know a few people with an Xperia, and they all say it's the best phone they've ever had. And SE have quite a lot riding on this phone, so I refuse to believe that they're not gonna fix the issues that some people ARE experiencing.
As for the specs being outdated, only really the camera. And it doesn't pretend to BE a camera phone, so that's not really an issue.
The Hikaru DOES sound very tantalising, and I was tempted to wait, but I don't expect an official announcement for maybe another couple of weeks, or possibly even the MWC in Feb, again. And we prob'ly won't see it on sale til, at the earliest, May or June, but prob'ly nearer August...

SE phones go through the same path- A short path.
Since they outdated at the time of release and because the reliability is a huge problem.
I am not against SE - I hope Hikaru will be a great phone - looks fantastic!
8MP camera etc.
If you like X1 why don´t you enjoy it - but I guess you never used it!

Anonymous, 17 Nov 2008Yes, I have heard the same BS about W890, C902, G900 etc. ... moreAre you retarded or something? The specs of the phone has got absolutely nothing to do with how long it took to get released. Whether it had the most up to date specs of the moment, or whether the specs were low end doesn't change the fact that it was announced in Feb, promised for Sept, and released in October. Still less than a year.
And what does the cancellation of the G900 have to do with the Xperia? Absolutely nothing.
You have not explained any of your points, simply repeated them, and you're making no sense whatsoever. Personally I can't understand why you're so desperate to hate this phone. If you don't like it, don't buy it, but don't come on here and spout a load of nonsense, you just make yourself look foolish...

as far as the vote:
Anybody can vote! Even company staff.
SE has a billion dollar for PR - don´t you think they monitor the few websites available on the net.
No valid consumer satisfaction survey was ever made.
the only clear indication is the PRICE! and that is dropping real fast!

Revenant, 17 Nov 2008Yeah, the X1 is a complete and utter failure. And it's bec... moreYes, I have heard the same BS about W890, C902, G900 etc. for a few weeks after release.
Then it became evident that those models have serious problems. Se already canceled the production of G900.
X1 is at least one year late. :))))
I know it is a hard concept for a few but it is late because it was outdated at the time of announcement.
Almost everybody having problems with the X1 - bugs are evident.
The price drop is also tells everything :))))
The priced dropped over 20% in two weeks. We all know when the demand is high and the supply is low it drives DOWN the price. :)))))))
