Well, SE's customer care line have confirmed that the Xperia is sold out across almost the whole of the UK. They don't even have any in their own e-shop. One of their fastest ever selling handsets. They also confirmed that the battery life stabilises after about a week of average use, and that the vast majority of returned units were found to have no defects, it ws simply people who didn't like it, or couldn't get to grips with WinMo...

ok! After years of using SE and months of waiting for this phone (X1) I give up… while waiting, I bought the iphone, good for entertainment, HTC touch PRO, which sucked because of WM OS; slow, freezes, etc. After reading all these reviews and no FACTS when the x2 is coming out, I am moving over to the dark side. I am thinking of buying the Nokia E71, I have heard good comments from most users. I have never used a Nokia before so hopefully I will like it!!

Anonymous, 18 Nov 2008There's got to be some kind of filter on voting otherwise b... moreYep!
I always thought of that! I even wrote to gsmarena about doing something, to shrink the rights on voting cell phones!
Just now, I've thought of something: maybe, if gsmarena were into some kind of business with each brand, Nokia, SE, Samsung, Sagem, etc., having access to all IMEIs on the market, that would do it.
So, if you were the owner of an i8510, or an N82, you'd have to enter the IMEI, prior to being able to vote the phone.
I seems pretty logical to me. Say you got an X1, and you've had both up and downsides with it, you'd be able to imagine and have your own review of the phone, thus giving a real vote. Because you'd be able to set it, legally so to speak, on a scale from 1 to 10.
              Bye!

I don't think there is any arrow keyboard onboard the X1. How do you go about playing Window action games like "3D mini dogfight/ Aircombat," "3D chopper fligh" & "Atomic cannon pocket?" Your reply is greatly appreciated & thanx.

                    Wow.. relax down there..
since u've said that u study marketing.. what SE do right now is logical and definitely legal.
They are pricing their products using Price Skimming Strategies. For you guys who did not know what Price Skimming is, Google it !!!
For me, i have a silver xperia right now. And I'm totally happy with it.. Delighted to be exact. SO for ALL of you HATERS out there. JUST SHUT THE HELL UP and look other mobile phones if you really do not like Xperia.

Dmitry, 18 Nov 2008Why won't SE make their own OS? It would be far better than... moreSymbian is ok but WM is a complete os. Flexible, powerful but quite complicated for the newcomer. People who don't understand WinMo tend to get frustrated and blame the OS rather than themselves.

If you dont have a pc then you download .cab files directly to your Windows mobile. If you have a pc then you can install exe and msi files(for PPC) through your pc using activesync.

There's got to be some kind of filter on voting otherwise brand fanboys would vote straight 10's and brand haters would vote straight 1's.I'd imagine gsmarena put a limit of 10,9,9 on top models and a base of around 6.Votes of 1,1,1 will be accepted but market up to the base value. As soon as the xperia X1 hit number1 spot on gsmarena it attracted some ridiculous characters and no doubt a flurry of low votes, seems very immature to me!I mean you do all this just to see nokia n82 or whatever phone at number 1.>rolls eyes

Danny, 18 Nov 2008As far as dropping price because demand high supply low??? ... moreVery good point. Exactly the same thing happened with Nintendo's N64. Sold so well that after 6 months the price was cut by almost half. Anyone remember that? The controversy it caused? It was so bad, Nintendo had to offer a free game to everyone who bought theirs before the price cut...

What\'s it like as a phone?
Works very well. Signal strength seems good, better than the Pro in this respect, and holds on to signal while in call very well. Had a few dropped calls but only in known black spots. Battery life is good and sound quality/volume also good.
Navigating to the place to make an outbound call?
There is a send hardware button , which opens the standard Windows smartdialer.
What does it do when the phone rings? (pop up? etc)
Standard Windows Mobile fare, a pop up which can be disabled.
What about when an SMS comes in? Or if you want to write one?
Once again standard WM. Pop up, sounds etc can be configured. To write WM messages.
Is user is able to text message single-handedly?
You can, it’s easier for me on the screen, as I use TouchPal, you can on the keyboard but adding Capitals, figures etc tricky one handed.
Display in sunlight? The X1 has a slight edge as it seems to have one less layer of plastic in front of the screen for light to bounce off.
How solid is the slider mechanism, is there any slop or lateral movement in it?
This is very good, very positive, satisfying click once open, very little to none lateral on this one, slightly more when shut than open but still good.

People were standing in line, long line, in front of the Apple Store - day after day _ I saw them.

I do not see any lines in front of any stores for X1!
X1 is available widely. The selves are full.
X1 is Not a big hit at all.

Think about the I-Phone when it first came out... 1 month late they dropped the price $200. If you make enough money right off the bat b/c it keeps selling out you can afford to drop the price... as long as you have already met/exceeded your profit goals
