Anonymous, 29 Jul 2008nokia alredy made better with e90 too few inovation aspe... moreIt's nothing like an improved p1!The OS is different, the screen has FIVE times the resolution,VGA recording, beautiful expensive peripherals .Try running a professional application like AUTOCAD from an e90 or p1..you can't because it does not exist but perfectly possible on a Xperia x1.

brynn, 29 Jul 2008gigabyte g-smart t600 has been ready for over one year now ... moreTaken from http://msmobiles.com/news.php/7365.html

As you can see on the photo above, we have been testing reception of mobile TV in regular (not mobile version like DVB-H) broadcasting standards of DVB-T known in UK as "FreeView" (digital terrestrial, not satellite, TV) and DAB (digital radio - very popular in UK, successor to FM radio).

The location of testing was particularly well chosen: it was inside of the Terminal 5 of Heathrow airport, i.e. inside an airport where many people are waiting for flights so it was a good use case showing where watching mobile TV would be interesting for potential customers. Terminal 5 is the most modern airport building in UK and it is constructed out of glass and steel yet the reception of TV was possible with GSmart t600, that has reception not worse than regular DVB-T receivers and TV sets with "built-in FreeView".

Since GSmart t600 has a beautiful VGA display of high resolution 640x480 pixels, even watching TV channels with a lot of textual information is not a problem and one can see each and every detail of the broadcast clearly (no pixelation!):

When scanning for new channels one must set "UK" configuration and then both TV and radio channels are catched:

Practically all available FreeView and DAB radio chanels can be received. Sometimes one must turn the phone around to find the position at which reception is optimal/possible but generally comfortable high quality watching is possible.

FreeView, as the name indicates, is a free digital television directed at regular users, who would like to receive mainstream TV channels (BBC1-4, ITV1-4, E4, Channel 5, Five and its variants, etc). Obviously British pay-TV like Sky TV and Virgin Media TV are available only through satellite and cable respectively but the TV in the air directed at regular TV set owners can be received also with the GSmart t600 phone.

Conclusion: if you live in UK then GSmart t600 phone may be of interest to you as it is the only mobile phone that can bring to you full digital TV (and digital DAB radio as bonus) to your pocket!

So Brynn I don't agree with your reasons for this unit being unavailable

Abel, 29 Jul 2008Hi! guys plz someone help me in choosing a good one between... morewell, there is a good chance that neither of these two phones will be available in august. From what I have read this week the X1 problably won't be out till Q4 2008 and I haven't heard a confirmation on the Touch Pro release date either. so if you really _have_ to buy in August (for what ever reasons) you should probably choose a different phone.

If you want to decide between those two phones, just take a look at the differences and decide what is more important to you. In my oppinion according to the specs the X1 is a little better than the Touch Pro. It has a stronger battery, WVGA display, is capable of VGA 30fps video recording (maybe WVGA) and has the panels interface. they have a different design, but that's a question of taste... the rest is pretty much the same (give or take a little). the X1 is even supposed to have TouchFlo. but there are still the big unaswered questions about release dates and prizes.
