Windows Mobile 6 and Windows Embedded CE DOES NOT have a cap in color depth at 65k. That is simply not true, stop saying that.

Windows Mobile 6 (and WeCE) supports pixel depths of 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 24, and 32 bpp. (Source: msdn.microsoft.com)

16bits = 65k colors, 18bit = 262k colors, 24bit = 16,7m colors.

So, WM doesn\'t directly support 18 bit colordepth (262k). Are we bothered? No.The reason most WM phones use 65k is that converting the framebuffer takes CPU cyles. Using GPUs takes more power and costs more. WM doesn\'t cap at 65k colors, the CPUs and cost-aspects do.

Lets be clear here The screen is one of the finest ever produced thanks to the superb WVGA resolution.( 65k WVGA display is FAR FAR sharper than a 16million colors QVGA display)

        Any display with more than 65k colours simply wouldn't make sense in this device because Windows Mobile doesn't support more colours! So stop posting bulls***!

          Anonymous, 30 Jul 2008Who wants to watch TV on such small screen in a phone? That... moreThats initially what i was saying to the person earlier..Reception at terminal 5 maybe strong but where i am in uk we struggle as yet to get reception with a new rooftop aerial etc so down in the street their would be no chance of getting a picture on g600..i was one who bought the lobster 700tv and when it worked it was ok but continually updating licence and getting reception was maddening to say the least..

          One good thing to say to that person earlier and its in his favour is if dvb-t works in good reception and by 2012 the freeview reception is brilliant in 98% of country the uk will not have to build a seperate dvb-h system,,but,,the freeview is directional so you would have to point your mobile at the transmitter and also at street level i cannot see it working altho i would still not rule it out..

          With xperia the only tele is via 3g and thats dodgy to say the least..I am definatly for mobile tv 100% and always have been so roll on 2012 for our olympics in london..When and if tv comes fully to the mobile will we see whats happening at moment with lots cut out due to copyrights etc,,,who knows but tv on the xperia would look good with that diplay but by 2012 we do not know what handsets will be out???????

                sony ericsson is joking, only 65k colors on a high end device's display, actually i have never seen a 16M colors device's display from sony ericsson, it's a good brand, but i still prefer NOKIA . Nice thing is 256MB of Ram, it's really like a computer, also I like it's design.

And the reception is bad: ATSC and the other European standard are not good for small devices; they use too low frequencies for small antennas that are kept in hand, and have troubles with the reception when the device is on moving.

                                    a bit silly of them to announce the phone way back in Feb and still no confirmation on a release date.
                                    only creates a sense of frustration for the interested buyer.
                                    SE is really letting it slip.
