You are locked into a contract with one of the networks for 2 years on an additional plan. I'm not sure how much it is but I heard it was like $50-$60 a month.
When i heard $199 for the new iPhone I thought it was too good to be true, and it was.
iPhone is really no match for the Xperia, it will be well worth the extra money. I'm saving for it already XD

The samsung i900 omnio is the samsung i was refering to in last post but need battery times and video recording stats firstly,,The other thing i would like to say is the gigabyte t600 is supposidly launching in uk in july and is windows 6 pro with built in dvb-t so it can tune into freeview that uk residents get on their normal teles not the dvb-handheld version that we have to wait till 2012 in uk for,,that said between now and xperia launch other devices will appear so in a way s/e will not launch this till mid september but they may have to speed things up to stand some chance of the xperia being not out of date before its launched...

i can forget the i-phone straight away for me as competition to xperia as its cam is same as as i-phone 1,useless..The htc pro could be in my line up but its lacking a few things the xperia has but looking up samsungs new offering to see if thats in the running,,but so far its still xperia for me..

It seems with launch of HTC pro Sony will have stiff competiton in the market. With successful launch of iphone 3G and pricing it at $199 and $299, Sony needs to price it accordingly. Seems Sony need to take hell lot of effort with price as well as quality and launch date. otherwise market will be someones else's.
personally im big fan of Xperia but will surely have a look at HTC and iphone also.

Forgot to mention that I900 is lighte... moreAre you retarded? The Xperia is just as expandable with external memory as the Samsung is...
And the Xperia has a high resolution screen, so will look a lot nicer.

This phone has all i could ever need: wifi, 3g, enormous screen & resolution, multimedia, a2dp bluetooth, 3meg cam, 256mb RAM, 528MHz processor, QWERTY keyboard, office suite, oh it takes calls too. With this, i can leave my pc at the office & still be able to work on business trips. it's almost a laptop, but it fits well in my suit pocket. Those who dont like this phone are probably kids. That's what nokia & apple is for...

looking at the stats seem the new Omnia is better at some but weaker at some but i prefer lightweight fone however i want both fones

People who are posting that the samsung i900 is better are forgetting one major fact.
Samsung i900 has a 3.2 inch screen with WQVGA resolution or 400x240
Xperia has a 3.0 inch screen with WVGA resolution or 800x480.
Whats the point of having a larger screen if everything will look pixelated and blurry on it?
The Xperia has 4x the screen res and its screen will be crisp.
Also abt the camera, samsung phone cams are horrible. Sony Ericssons 3.2 will easily beat samsungs 5.
Also xperia has 256 RAM while i900 only has 128.
I personally prefer having a qwerty keyboard.
I do like the onboard memory of the i900 though.

You can use stylus,hardware keys or finger.Software used on other WinMo devices will be ported over.I'm sorry to disappoint you but wake up and smell the coffee XPERIA X1 ROCKS

I think it's nice, and "almost" perfect phone by design and feature, but is the screen using Full finger touchscreen like iPhone or LG Viewty or HTC Touch? if not, its kinda late to using stylus these days ha ha....
