But hey, this guy is very serious, i read also od porting some other linux to X50v (the architecture name for WM devices aperantly) It is not that i hate WM, it is just nico to know that my phone will support bot android and WM, so i cah change, or maybe dual boot, but sice android is only started my next device may be Android, for now there are just so plenty good WM aplications :P

Well you will hardly find working android, but i read in developers forums, samo people started do the porting job, i believe in a year that most devices will get the port, maybe 2 years.

Boedy, WM will never catch up to Symbian because you are essentially dealing with TELEPHONY and added features not mini-laptops. The majority of people want a device with good call and texting facilities. Nokia do a better job at this than WM, providing mobiles for both rich and poor. Nokia together with Symbian went a stage further by providing convergence devices. WM just could not grasp the simplicity of the concept of feature packed phones. SE would not, could not bring themselves to providing solid features such as camcording at VGA,30fps.
Xperia is SE's first handset that has that feature. The prodigal Son(y) has finally come home!
KUZx, don't try and cheat customers out of a good deal! The 5MP camera on the Nokia N82 is better than the 3.2MP camera on the N73. Your point is invalid. The sensors on these camphones are still large enough for a 5 to be noticeably better than a 3. Look 5"*7" prints taken in daylight come out far better with the N82. So Xperia should really have a 5MP autofocus cam. Why? Because Xperia is attempting to be a top of the range multifunctional device. If you want to move in high circles then you think highly. You have to come to the banquet with contemporary specs. Not those of two years ago! This phone is more than a business device. It is a multifunctional device and top of the range. SE should have definitely implemented a 5MP to show that this is top of the range and not an exercise in PR.
Those who say if you need great pictures buy a dedicated cam miss the point. One strives to attain as good quality as possible for a phone. People do not want to lug multiple devices with them. Since we carry our phones everywhere it is more convenient to transform the mobile phone into the mobile multifunctional device. The cell phone now becomes the master of the impromptu photograph. Snaps taken at the spur of the moment. Dedicated cameras are used more for set pieces eg grand occasions like weddings.
Thank goodness for the QWERTY! SE should not hold back on multimedia features such as 5MP cam and TV out just because it has a WM stamp. They should not let the business freaks hijack the device. The secret of commercial success is whether it will be multimedia friendly or not.

Who in the hell still makes a 65K color screen!? That's ridiculous. If you're gonna bring out a phone, it should at least be 256K to 16M like the apple iPhone.
What a waste of a decent phone...

tino, it sounds like they are saying this april. SE has already debunked the rumor that it won't be out this year. I have a hard time seeing why a phone that is already in working form will take a year to come out. To those who said SE support is claiming april, where did you call?

Thor, are they really trying to port Android to a tytn? That is very interesting. Can you post a link? It is not as simple as porting it to the ARM architecture though. Android is already made for ARM. The problem is supporting all the devices on the chipset like the phone radio, screen, ect. All these things require drivers to be written, and Qualcomm does not hand out this info. It is not cheap (case in point, HTC chose to leave out 3D drivers to save a buck). There is much to reverse engineer to port a different OS to a device. Do you have a link? I did find where they got Android working on a Sharp Zaurus device. Interesting stuff.
Is SE support really saying april?? That would be awesome!! I tried calling but I got the typical "we dont get any pre-release info" answer. Where are you guys calling? I have maintained a hope that when CTIA comes around on March 1 (just one week!) MS and SE will finally announce a release date that will be much before everyone's pessimistic predictions. I mean this is SE not imate :P. surely they can pull something amazing off?

With the wvga screen and WM6.1 it is of paramount importance that the chipset is fully supported. The demonstrations are likely showing Xperia running without 3d3 drivers,on release I would presume the chipset will be fully supported with proper drivers.

Jonk, go to android site, there are 1000 people working or porting it, making aplications, itd. HTC tytn is on od the forst on the list, just w8 what people can do with opensource, expecialy if google is helping! That 5 times more programes working on it that on windows mobile or sybmbian. ID they simply make Android work on ARM architecture than all is done, only fine tunning needed, don't forget they ported linux on X-BOX, playstation, routers,...

A disappointing news...
I'm much concerned with the X1 speed now a days, well in this following video if you scroll to 53sec and see when the guy hits the clock and it takes a noticeable time plus it open in 2 steps which shows lack of proper memory utilisation well nothing is new when it comes to Microsoft apps but the thing is they cheap and user friendly too and that's what we luv abt MS ;-)

I believe Xperia can beat both E90 and iPhone, as E90 symbian based and doesn't even have good supportive themes never mind the business useable apps, can be competitive for iPhone if SE keeps the tradition of giving the same old handy walkman music features in this business box. As this phone (Window Pocket PC compatible apps) already have enough enterprise apps compatible so it does the basic job here on top of it we need some enhance built-in multimedia tools

Thor, I highly doubt that you will be able to put Android on a device that doesn't already have it. These devices are not like PCs where you can freely install any OS you like. A device ROM must be made specifically for that device. There are hackers out there who try putting different OSes on phones and PDAs but Android on a windows mobile device is a very long shot.

Of course Windows mobile will beat Symbian. One thing that make symbian still alive is their "partner"(Nokia). What happen when Nokia loosing their lead? The answer is Nokia and symbian will burried in the same grave.
