Mmm... The laws of Physics, pixel counts and high resolution... intriguing.
If one takes two cameras, all variables being equal except one is 3.2MP and the other 5MP. They both take a picture of the same scene under the same conditions. 5"by 7" prints are made. The 5MP camera will show more detail because there are more pixels making up the photo.
As for high resolution and colour: the human retina with its millions of cones and rhods (light sensitive cells) can definitely tell the difference between 65K and 16.7M colours. QVGA screens married to 16.7M are adequate for multimedia eg viewing photos as long as the diagonal dimension does not exceed 3 inches. Conversely VGA or WVGA married to 65K colours is great for viewing graphs, tables and charts as seen in business phones.

While there are some Symbian s60 devices that deserve the title "smartphone," Their's no SERIOUS level of application support or data usage.
Walk up to the user of a Nokia Series 60 phone, and ask them what OS they're running.The most likely response will be a blank stare. People don't buy most Symbian s60 devices because they think they're for data, they buy them for camera's and because they're considered to be "cool phones."
As of now,the only smartphone platforms really worth mentioning are Windows, Blackberry,linux.To extend the courtesy to all Symbian devices,is to strain credulity.
Of course,to offer a reasonable definition of "smartphone" would drastically slash their sales numbers, which would make it more difficult to produce an attention-grabbing and misleading headline for your research company's report.

lol It's insane how people can be fooled by numbers!Wait until someone introduces a 10 MP Cameraphone..People will rush out and buy it despite having no idea about photography or the simple physics concerning high pixel count and small sensors.

Yup everybody who thinks a QVGA screen with 16 million colors is better than a WVGA screen with 65k colors definately dosen't have a clue same with the imbeciles who natter on about 5MP camera cells.If you need to print large photo's you would get a standalone camera with a far bigger sensor.

as far as i know all sony ericsson cells are great, but little information is given about this cells sound quality..........but it doesn't matter...the cell is great...........lets see the price onc it is said!! that will be the main factor

still its not a 5megapixel phone its doesnt matter if i dont print a large photo or not but i want the best for my money if ill spend money ill make sure its a 5 megapixel phone doenst matter if i use it or not as long its worth it would you spend big bucks for a 3.2?

I suppose if you had moved from a Java phone to a Symbian mobile you might rate symbian Apps but yeah most sis apps are vastly inferior to WM.Symbian has better games though.

this is the best phone I have ever seen.
Everybody wants to have 5MP camera, stereo mic and speaker,xenon flash, 16M colors. Why???
5MP phone camera quality= 1-2MP real camera quality.
If you want to make a photo use a real camera.
16M vs. 65K colors is the same for me in this size.
QUERTY keyboard and 800x480 resolution are very important for me. At the moment I have a PDA with 320x240 resolution. It's a joke. For internet is not enough. I cannot use internet.
Stereo mic is better than mono? For me is more than enough the mono. No difference.
WM is also very important for me. I can use much more program. Much more!!
400MB memory? Maybe it will be raised to 1GB.
I will buy the EXPERIA

5MP camera is useful if you plan on printing large photo's.I suspect half the people that own 5MP camera's rarely print large pictures therefore they would be as well having a 1MP camera phone.Scream 5MP or 16million colours and people jump to the wrong conclusions....Some people are so gullible....

Yeh it's hot but price tag at launch will be around $800. Its all good excellent except only 3.2 mp camera. A 5 mp would be much desirable seeing as a i have 3.2 in my k800 right now.

The one who posted that the color is only 65k color which is ugly that dude sucks and he is just want to ruin the image of Sony Ericsson and he don't have the knowledge about this phone and don't post here if you don't want this phone (Mr. Ugly) were not convincing you to but this phone and this phone is the best just look at it's new added extra features!

well i think this is a great device and its a windows mobile likewise the design is great but one thing the camera is not a 5 megapixel its only a 3.2 megapixel well thats what nokia has that this unit dont have why dont SE make it 5MP so they can beat nokia phones
