Tawd, you have made some interesting points but let's face it, the industry standard for mobile phones sporting cameras is 5MP. Most phones have improved in photography when they went from 3 to 5MP. The latter not only produces bigger prints but clearer, sharper images because there are more pixels. All things being equal one cannot compare in terms of sharpness a VGA cam to a 5MP.
Looking at the screen, it is obvious that it should be wider. It ought to be at least 3.5" to be able to fully utilize the WVGA res.
It is nice to see that at least SE are having a go at making a QWERTY device multimedia friendly.

Finally, a phone that will put iphone and the other phones to shame! Well done SE, i can't wait to have this phone! great features, great screen, perfect size and just cool everything.

This phone is simply amazing!
The screen is great! The resolution is VGA which is even more important than the 65K colors. You realize that if it was VGA and 16 million colors, the price would be much more higher.
The design is simply stunning. I was at Mobile World Congress, and I got to try the phone and hold it in my hands. The stainless steel design is simply amazing. Most phones nowadays use different types of plastics. This is excellent SE!
The touchscreen itself is glass, giving it a very sturdy feeling!
And guess what? It has a 3.5 MM headphone jack at last! the first SE phone with one!
As someone mentioned before, Windows Mobile is a very good interface. It suppors 3rd part applications and you can tweak it as much as you want. There are a lot of programs available too!
This phone is truly excellent. Rating: 10 10 10!

Anyone complaining about the screen is clearly stupid as is the people moaning about the OS.Their is literally THOUSANDS of games and applications for WM Professional.You want flexabilty?With WM you can basically tweak the OS to do pretty much anything you want.Take a look at http://www.xda-developers.com and see what the guys the do with WM.

To Sony Ericsson developers:
- Buttons are not so nice, please make them smarter.
- Please make the browsing experience similar to the I-Phone.
- Please try to include Psion like CTRL+ key shortcuts, for good pim functionality.
- Please make the Home screen look, cooler. It must be Apple killing (too much orange now) I know this is minor, but we want a real ipod killer!! :)

Totally agree with "tawd" on his opinion,
these days 3.6 meg is all you need, the screen is big enough, why would you need bigger!! you dont want to be answering a bus when it rings! congrats sony! I hope it'll work with some windows app's, e.g. windows media player like the n95 easy sync! why the change to micro sd ?? hope the battery will hold up, i think they should up the internal memory though, but otherwise nice phone!

It is so sad, that SE will use Windows Mobile :(
It would be much better it SE would use Linux OS, witch is much better, much flexible and has lot of third party software.
I hope that in near feature SE will fix their mistake ant will put some thing like Android to their new phone.

Upgrade the camera and the display? Are you serious?
First of all, anything above a 3.2 Megapixel camera is basically pointless on a phone. If you want bigger pictures, then go with a digital camera as I truly doubt anyone serious about photography is going to rely on their phone to create a portfolio.
Second, how exactly do you think the screen should be upgraded? It's 3" at a 800x480 resolution. This is currently the highest resolution in the mobile community.
I personally think SE hit all the nails on the head with this device. I never expected to see a product like this from SE, so it's definitely a pleasant surprize.
Good job SE! This phone seems worth waiting for, and i'm excited to get more info on it.

X1 is the something else on what is on the market right now. Clearly will be the iPhone killer and Nokia killer with all their models. It's superb and.....it's Sony Ericsson.

Dearest GSM Arena please could you include details of RAM, type of GPS chipset, processor type and battery capacity in the technical specifications page.
One thing this SE has proven is that there is a large market for QWERTY based phones. I hope that Nokia makes a similar slide-out phone ( they have already done that with the Nokia N810 internet tablet) with full N-series features. Everyone knows that when it comes to multimedia, Nokia are unbeatable.
