It's about time SE developed the Xperia brand geared toward the internet experience, not just music (Wseries) and camera (Kseries). Pseries is still around, but Xperia raises the stakes. I remember when K850 lacked Wifi and the triband W960 only had wifi 'b' and not 'g'. If u dont mind the weaker 'flash', Xperia X1 is as perfect as it gets for business and PDA users while still striking a balance with the mainstream consumer. Just keep your K800, K850, or N82 as backups just for Xenon. Leave the laptop at home. X1 is perfect for work and making those iPhone posers jealous.

Really, the only weakness i see in X1 is no Xenon. And that's being nitpicky since i have a Nokia phone to cover for that. I'm buying X1 more for faster web browsing, not for taking pix in mind. Has 1500mAH batt as well. If only Nokia had common sense and not put 950mAH on power hungry phones. I just hope X1 gets a American carrier this year. Cant afford it unlocked.

MP count is overrated. What matters is good sensors and flash. A 3MP K790 beats a 5MP LG Viewty in day and night shots. Even if a 8MP camphone comes out, i wouldnt upgrade unless it has optical zoom and auto lens cover. 3.2MP to 5MP is not a huge disparity at all. If u only use the cam to post pix on MySpace or have a PC wallpaper, putting it on the VGA or 2MP setting is all u need. Saves memory space. 5MP is far more sufficient for a point and shoot unless u like to print big photos of yourself.

Actually the Qualcomm chipset is the best in the buisness(check the white paper)The Kaiser dosen't have the 3D3 drivers and that's where the problem lies. This SE model will definately have full driver support.

My mistake on E90. Just shows u that no phone with real QWERTY has anything over 3.2MP. The only people who can indicate if 65K is as good 256k are HTC users, but even it might not be relevant if the resolution is increased. Just looking at the vids tells me that screen display is going to be even better than iPhone. Knowing Sony, they wont make that display look inferior than anyone else.

Has anyone any idea what processor/chipset has been used for this, i hope its not the crappy qualcomm they used in the Kaiser, that just wouldnt do this handset justice

People have been brainwashed with Nokia\'s gimmicks.I\'m sure any photographer will confirm 5mp camera\'s do not automatically produce better photo\'s than 3mp cams. The human eye can hardly distinguish 65k or 16million colours on sub 3inch Screen but can sure as hell seperate a pathetic QVGA screen such as the one implented on the ghastly N96 to the brilliant WVGA on the X1.If you want a phone that delivers choose a X1.If you like gimmicks, small operating systems, games then choose Nokia.

Can you believe someone compared the colors of his k800 screen to the display on the XPERIA X1.The X1 has a WVGA display-for the numpties out there the detail is four times better than the N95's screen. In short The Screen is AWESOME

Most people will just have to keep waiting then. Phones with QWERTY rarely have them. The E90 has a 5MP cam (no Xenon) and that phone cost about $1200 first time. No HTC phone has one. Usually, a business/internet-centric phone wont even add a cam over 2MP and no video recording at all. Think BlackBerry. I wouldnt be surprised if the X1 shows a better display than a lo res/16.7M/4 inch E90.

Guys please understand the type of 'user' this product is destined for.Nokia stick a 5mp camera in Devices in the knowledge that average joes will be suckered in.SE know people with some degree of understanding want an OS and device that delivers across the board. The total package ROCKS.

                                  Sony Ericsson Xperia X1:

I would have bought this phone if the xenon flash was included and 5MP, i will not waste 850USD for a phone with only 65K of colors and normal to cheap quality camera(video recording)!

Hope the next version of Xperia X1 will have all-in-one for a reasonable price!

Nice points, Tawd. I have a 5MP cameraphone and even I never put it above 3MP setting. I bought the phone for the quality of the actual photos, not the MP count. If cameraphones are only used randomly just for kicks at bars, for MySpace, or to print 5x7 pix, 3MP is sufficient enough. If u plan to go to the Grand Canyon, a $800+ SLR cam w/ optical zoom is what's needed. Not just a point n shoot cam for closer shots.

OH MY GOD!!! "The Phone" is coming soon!!! I can't wait. This "monster" will eat all others little phones including "The Toy" iPhone. Now in Apple all people is running like a chickens to make a new model of iPhone because the current will drop in the abyss...

Just get a big, bulky Nokia E90 running on a sluggish 330mHZ processor if the 3.2MP camera and 65K colors is an issue. The reality is no manufacturer is going to give you everything. You need 2 or 3 phones with contrasting strengths and focus to maximize this. Even my N82 cant give me all of what i want. Many companies have different products for many types of consumers. Why put all the best eggs in one basket if that person rarely comes back? The more you keep asking for more, the likelihood the price goes up. Look at the prices from HTC phones already.
